  • Re: Flickering on/off Syncmaster 2053BW

Here's an updated list of the caps included on the board. I had some ratings wrong and forgot 3 smaller caps.

    2x 1000uF 16V
    4x 470uF 25V
    2x 330uF 25V
    1x 47uF 35V
    1x 1uF 50V
    1x 100uF 16V
    1x 100uF 450V

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

I don't really mind paying the $9.50 shipping charge. Even though it's somewhat high for small components, it's still cheaper than buying a brand new monitor for $100+. I'd hate throwing away a whole monitor just because of small components that needs replacing that would cost me less than $15 to fix. Wouldn't wanna act like all the commoners now right? :P haha!

I took some pictures of all the boards from my monitor and some close ups of the bad caps in question.

Basically, if my monitor is off and I go to turn it back on, there's a good chance the display will flicker (light is really dim and seems to "shake") and it'll turn off after around 2 seconds. I've seen it flickering for longer, maybe 5 seconds and turning on fully, but not often. Sometimes it'll turn on like normal without a problem,...

Hi everyone, my name is Sebastien. I found this site because I'm in search of some capacitors for a tired Samsung monitor and I will need your help to choose the best components to fix it up.

I enjoy doing pretty much everything myself but not afraid to ask for help when I need to. I work on my own car, my house, my computer. I really enjoy the learning experiences and I think it's time I tackle some fine electronics DIY skills. I already opened up my PSP and cell phone in the past for some simple fixes. Time for...
