Hi everybody, I need your help please.
On friday, the projector worked for 4 hours without any issue.
On saturday, the projector worked for 20 minutes before I turned it off manually.
When I tried to restart it after a 30 minutes pause, it started as expected but after 2 minutes, the lamp goes out! Then the projector started to do its starting process again and again...
When the projector is totally cold, I got the normal start up process but after 2 minutes, the lamp goes out and the projector try to restart again and again...
...

Epson EH-TW5200 projector doesn't turn on
Dear all,
I have an Epson EH-TW5200 projector that doesn't turn on.
I checked the main fuse near the 230V power outlet : it is OK.
https://ibb.co/rw82xbm
I followed the cable and I checked the voltage on this connector it is still OK.
https://ibb.co/mSzkxhb
I've checked individual voltages on this connector coming from the power supply : I always have 0V on each pin...

After looking for the service manual on the net, I only...

Re: Focal Cub 3 won't start
Ok I got it for X1, Y1 blue caps !
And what about the DIAC dimmer circuit ?
Thank you

Re: Focal Cub 3 won't start
Hi everybody !
Sorry for my late reply...
And the winner is... the DIAC !!! After quickly shorting the diac... the unit powers on !!
Now I'm waiting for my DIAC DB6 order... 1 month...
I still don't understand how the circuit works... Do you think it has something related to this ?
What about the "protection circuit" with X1, Y1 capacitors ? What use is it ?

Re: Focal Cub 3 won't start
Thanks a lot for all your answers.
Ok, I will give you the pictures this week-end.
About the diac ; someone told me to check the diac as follows : I need to quickly short-circuit the diac (< 0.5 second) : if the supply starts... the diac is failing.
What do you think about that method ?
Thanks again !

Re: Focal Cub 3 won't start
You are right, the problem is however different of mine because the units have got blown fusés or shorted transistors...
Could someone confirm me that the start-up caps are the two blue ones with glue please ?
Thank you.

Re: Focal Cub 3 won't start
I'm not at home this week so I can not take any photo of the bottom of the pcb... But I can tell you that there is no chip at the bottom ; this is a double sided pcb but the components are only located at one side.
At the white connector, there were no DC voltage...
I would like to add that there is a switch on the preamp board that allows to choose between auto On/Off mode and "always On" mode. I always switch to always ON not to have that parameter to handle with...
If the subwoofer is able to start...

Re: Focal Cub 3 won't start
The start up capacitors : do you mean the two X1, Y1 (blue ones) just between the heatsink screw and the 2 red capacitors ?
What about the smps chip ? I thought the square wave was generated by the diac/capacitor association in the INDIGO tiny pcb board... Could you be more specific about this PWM chip I should looking for please ?
Thank you very much for your quick reply !

Focal Cub 3 won't start
Hello everybody,
I have an issue on my Focal Cub 3 subwoofer unit : it stays desperately off.
The main fuse and the 2 MOSFET's are not blown.
Here is a picture of the main psu board :
As you can see on the picture, the 2 MOSFET's are driven by a tiny pcb board vertically soldered on the main pcb board "INDIGO 660038RA".
From left to right, the pin 5 and 8 are connected to the gates of the MOSFET's.
As I saw weird colors on the resistors, I changed all the...

Flickering picture on a SIM2 HT200 Projector
Hi everybody
I encouter a new problem with my old (and good) projector : a SIM2 HT200.
I made a video for you to understand the problem : the picture is flickering.

Note that I already took apart the projector to fix a bad cap problem on the lamp ballast...
Thank you for your help, regards, François.Hi everybody

Re: Yamaha DRX-730 won't start
Yes !
It works !
It was definitely the 470K resistor
One thing that I don't understand :
The voltage divider made of R556,557,558,559 gives me for the pin 16 :
V_pin_16=V_capacitor*(R556+R557)/[(R556+R557)+R558+R559]
V_pin_16=332*(4.7+15)/[(4.7+15)+470+470]=6.81V
And I finally found 3.1V after changing the R558 and R559... what's the difference between the theory and the pratice ?
Thank you very much, regards

Re: Yamaha DRX-730 won't start
I confirm the voltage readings for all my pins.
I add some measurements : for AC_OK I agree something is going wrong -> I have my voltage after R558 (320V) but nothing after R559... hum hum...
So the resistance for R558 is ok (469K) but... not for R559 : it seems to be bad !
Nothing is parallel-connected so this resistor is dead...
I have to find another one to test.
Do you recommand me to change for a bigger one (higher wattage) ?
Thank you, again,...

Re: Yamaha DRX-730 won't start
I would like to add more informations : the measurements are made with only the 4 pin connector (W503) connected between the main board and the sub board (the power supply board) just so I can push on the power button to make the relay stick.
Additional measures : on this 4 pin connector W503
No power/Push on :
CGND (ground) : 0V/0V
PWR_RY (relay control) : 0V/4.8V
+5SUB : 13.55V/11.46V
+12_RES : 15.10V/12.67V
Thank you

Re: Yamaha DRX-730 won't start
Thank you budm for helping me
I think you are right I need to go further in the understanding of this IC.
So let's measure the voltages on the L6566 chip :
Pin 1 : The voltage for HVS (the pin whose aim is to charge an external cap to create VCC) is about 350V : it's ok.
Pin 5 : Vcc changes between 5V and 12V as previously said ; the electrolytic cap C512 is ok (tested with my ESR-meter)
Pin 4 : At the gate driver output (GD) which pilots the main power transistor Q501 (probe...

Yamaha DRX-730 won't start
Hello everybody,
I'm back with a new problem... on my audio-video system Yamaha DRX-730 that doesn't want to power on.

As I push the power button, the main relay that cliks (sticks) and 2 seconds later unsticks...
The relay is powered independently of the main system by a little transformer (T502) and its voltages are ok so I don't think there is a problem here with...

Re: Plasma TV Panasonic th-46pz81fv don't want to power on (2 blinks code)
I checked the heatsink and it is not earthed ! You are right : if it was earthed, the fuses of my house would have blown !
Vsus that I measure between TP5 (Test Point 5) and TP6 (ground) is definitely dead (0.6V) ... what is funny is that if I do some on/off cycles with the power button in front of my TV, the voltmeter indicates a voltage that increases by 0.1 to 0.3V each time I hit the power button...
Now, I am looking towards MC203... (same as Q301 and Q302 but for Vsus instead...

Re: Plasma TV Panasonic th-46pz81fv don't want to power on (2 blinks code)
The more I think, the more I don't find this is logical...
How would Q302's source be shorted to its heatsink (the 16N55G is a TO220F -isolated package-) ?
I unstuck Q302 from its heatsink and the short is still present so, if there is a short, it comes from elsewhere, and it could be normal... don't you think it's true ?
... but I can not find this short on the service manual (page 43, upper right for Q301 and Q302)......
