I hope someone's got a great idea for a solution.

I've got a gray area on the top of the screen that is sometimes in the upper left corner and sometimes upper left but not exactly in the corner. It is not there when I first start up and will go away for a few moments if I switch between TV mode and monitor mode - but always comes back.

I seems like it's one or more of the backlight LEDs going off since the information remains readable.

Any ideas of what might be causing it and whether it might be an "easy" fix?
