There are lots of Cisco router tutorials/books floating around the web, or you can check Amazon reviews - sorry not to be more specific.

What model router do you have? Note that some of the capabilities will probably be limited by the version of IOS you're running, and new versions may well require purchasing a support contract. Might also be worth purchasing a Cisco compatible serial cable if you're going to be messing around with configuration files. ...

There are four connectors (small/large -mainboard->large/large -PSU) joining the PSU and main board, I'm not clear which connector's pins you want me to test.

Digital multimeter? Just dug one(quite old) out of my toolbox, what do you want me to try to do?

Hi, just joined and have very limited electronics experience but am willing to have a go at fixing my HG281D.

Basically one of my monitors took multiple attempts to switch on but once it was on it ran OK. As timed passed more attempts were needed and eventually I left it switched on permanently(to avoid hassle), then one day it just died. I'm guessing it might be something to do with the power supply and so have ended up on these boards.

I've been trying to absorb this long thread and work out what to do next....
