OK so back to the original problem with the main board connected and the tcon disconnected, so its the main board! I've found a replacement on ebay so i'll get it ordered and fitted, and report back with the result.

Will that technique of disconnecting things one at a time moving away from the power board work with future TVs I repair, or is it specific to units with a combined power/inverter board? definately something to remember either way...

The good news is (I think?) That's it's looking like it's either the tcon or main board. Is there a way of diagnosing it further, or is it a case of trying both?

We are pretty close! Guessing your living north Leeds if your a student? I'm in LS10 on the south side.

Hi everyone,

I'm having some trouble diagnosing a problem with my TV. As mentioned in the title, I am unable to power on my TV. The red LED flashes 5 times when turning it on at the wall, then stops and there is no sign of life.

This must be an error code but I'm unable to find any info on it online. My initial thoughts are that this will be a problem with the power board but I am pretty inexperienced in this area so I'm happy to be advised otherwise.

There are no bulging caps on the power board, and I've checked all connections between boards. ...
