Re: Apple 27" Cinema Display (A1316) has trouble turning backlight on
I spoke too soon regarding the success of this repair. Shortly after replacing the LED strips, the problem persisted.
So,

Replacing the Power Supply
Replacing the LED Strips
both have failed to fix the issue, which leaves me with the logic board.
For what it's worth, 27" iMacs use the same panel, but do not fail in the same way. I guest that should suggest that the failure is not located in the panel, but in the logic board...

Re: Apple 27" Cinema Display (A1316) has trouble turning backlight on
Hopefully. Other people with no backlight found that giving a constant 3.3v to the PWM input on the backlight controller restored the backlight - at full brightness, permanently of course. They seemed to think that the issue lay in a bad microcontroller that failed to produce the signal. Given the success of this repair, I'm inclined to think that the issue was in the overcurrent protection correctly triggering and the failure to generate the PWM signal was merely a symptom of aging backlig...

This is what I purchased - later on I realized that other sellers on AliExpress had it cheaper - about $11. Attached a picture for posterity.
This is the same panel used in the 27” iMacs- the backlight likes to fail there too, typically the connector on one side goes out, leaving half the display dim.Re: Apple 27" Cinema Display (A1316) has trouble turning...

Re: Apple 27" Cinema Display (A1316) has trouble turning backlight on
Replacing the backlight with new LED strips fixed the issue. So, I'm inclined to say that a lot of the common no backlight failures on this model stem from a failure of the LEDs.
Unfortunately in the process of replacing I must have strained one of the ribbon cables - I now have a line running down the side of the screen.

Re: Apple 27" Cinema Display (A1316) has trouble turning backlight on
So, I ended up trying a replacement power supply as I got one for a lower price than they usually go. Issue persists in the exact same way.
So, next suspect I guess is the main board, which also contains the backlight circuitry. I’ve attached a stock photo of this board to the post. The backlight connector is the black plastic connector on the bottom left/middle area.
Seems like there are a lot of SMD electrolytic capacitors, as well as some voltage...Last edited by Misterkeeks; 07-03-2019, 01:15 PM.

Re: Apple 27" Cinema Display (A1316) has trouble turning backlight on
I think maybe I provided an iffy problem description.
If I turn the display brightness all the way down before connecting the monitor (and thereby turning it on, as it has no physical button of any kind), the backlight successfully turns on, after which I can turn it up as much as I want with no issues.
Basically, once the backlight is on, things are fine. No problems.
But getting the backlight on requires the brightness to be turned way down,...

Apple 27" Cinema Display (A1316) has trouble turning backlight on
I have an Apple A1316 27” Display (non-Thunderbolt) that is exhibiting a weird backlight issue.
When first plugged into a computer, when it receives a signal, the backlight flickers briefly but fails to stay on. Otherwise the monitor works fine (the computer thinks another monitor is attached, I can see that it is displaying using a flashlight).
I tried turning it's brightness all the way down before connecting it. When connected, it flickered, then stayed on. So it seems that it can barely muster enough energy to turn the backlight on, but once it's on, it's fine....

Strange 2 seconds to black issue - Dell P2210
I recently purchased 4 Dell P2210 monitors - 2 with dead pixels/panel issues, and 2 that didn't stay on- I assumed power/inverter. My plan was to swap the power supply/inverter board from the panel issues monitors into the monitors that wouldn't stay on.
Unfortunately, the monitors that experience 2 seconds to black experience it regardless of power supply/inverter. I've installed a known good power supply inverter board in both of the monitors that didn't stay on, and it didn't help. I even swapped the supposedly bad power/inverter boards from the 2 seconds to black screens, and...

Re: Zalman ZM-M215W 3D Monitor - weird screen issue
I tested voltages on the T-CON board. There are many test points on this board, you can see them on the pictures in the third post in this thread.
Here are the voltages:
1. VDDG...28V
2. VDDA...13V
3. VEEG...-7V
4. VDDD..3.3V
5. ????....0V
6. VEEG...-7V
VCOM_C1: 5.51V
OE1..........1.01V
CLKV1.......1.64V
STV1.........0.01V
VDDG_FLK.20.3V
STH_F1......0V
XDON1.......3.3V
LP1...........0.16V
IPOL1.......1.65V

Re: Zalman ZM-M215W 3D Monitor - weird screen issue
Do you know how to configure this particular kind:

The back seems to show some sort of configuration of pins to short but I can't figure it out... Also not sure where the 5v input goes...Re: Zalman ZM-M215W 3D Monitor - wei...w some sort of...

Re: Zalman ZM-M215W 3D Monitor - weird screen issue
I have pictures of the logic board and the T-Con board. I'm surprised that the logic board and the panel seem off the shelf - I guess the only special part of this monitor is the polarized panel in front of the LCD.
I'm curious why you think it is a panel issue? It seems like the panel might work - some parts display fine, albeit with a delay. In my uneducated opinion it seems like a T-Con issue- which probably will necessitate replacement of the panel. Anyway, here are the pictures. I might purchase...

Zalman ZM-M215W 3D Monitor - weird screen issue
Picked up this broken 3D monitor for $3 - why not?
I've never seen this type of issue before. On both DVI and VGA inputs, the majority of the screen is grayish. The top few millimeters of the screen have accurate colors. I can faintly see that it is sort of displaying an image on the grayish part, but the image is very faint, and there are many artifacts on the image.
When I drag a window onto the screen, it takes several seconds to fade in. If I drag it off, it fades out over several seconds.
Any idea if this is repairable? I've attached some images, including...

Re: No Backlight on Toshiba 32HL67U
The inverter board arrived yesterday. I installed it and everything was back to normal! Thanks so much for all of your help!...
