well beiung A.D.D. and inpateint as I am I decided that I would go ahead and try jumping what seemed to be the only chip that was labeled like an EEprom...after some difficult soldering of a jumper wire (i really wish my hands were steadier) i fired her up cut the wire after a second and she fired right up right back to the regular input she was left on when she died. all settings even seem to be the same.
For anyone that is looiking for the info, the EEprom on this board is at location IC203 about 1 inch above the...

That is a great resource to have thanks so much budm but I am more confused now. the eprom location on the guide is not what is on my board anywhere that I can find.
i have several 8 legged chips but only 1 labeled "atmel 630 24c256bn su18" the others have wp numbers so can I assume this is the right chip. it is located at IC203 on the front of the main board (the guide says it is located at ic112 but i dont have a 112 anywhere that I can find)

  • Re: Samsung le40r88bd Clicking, All caps tested ok

i appreciate it budm, my model is slightly different than the original posters modem, mine is a LNS4041dx/xxa with a BN94-00963E. will the service manual you linked still be ok (im leaning towards no)
I checked on that site that you linked and my model does not come up. Maybe I should start a new thread on the subject as I'm not sure adding it to this one was the best idea as it may cause others confusion also.

ideally repolacing the eeprom with a balnk one would be fine, but there are a few things that cause a problem. first I dont have one, second I'm not sure I can handle the delicate nature of soldering the entire eeprom (couple of wires would be no problem, but trying to get all 8 legs lined up and back on concerns me) and lastly I still dont know which chip is thre prom haha.

If someone can tell me the where it is I will start by reseting and if that still doesnt do it I will order an eeprom and try to get the...

But with all the 8 leg chips that look similar on both the front and backl tof the board i just cant seem to figure out which one to jumper. most from what I have read say to its the chip reading...
