Re: OK SA-1000 Soldering Station
I have dealt with these high tin boards, I flood them with regular solder and let it sit for a bit. I've fixed some older motherboards on computer test stations where I work. If you're not careful, you can rip up the runs on the circuit board. I hate those boards. Unfortunately, we have test stations where I work, that were designed in the 90's that won't run on new computers. So we have to maintain these old systems.

Re: OK SA-1000 Soldering Station
Thanks, I'll try anything, always good to have a back-up! It is a great station that gets hot enough to melt the high temp RoHS solder!

Re: OK SA-1000 Soldering Station
I'll try and Mcgyver something. Maybe the high temp JB Weld. Nothing to lose at this point. Just hate to throw it away. Thanks for listening everybody!

Re: OK SA-1000 Soldering Station
Yes STJ- That's looks exactly like it. It does say SAI-690 and has the OK industries logo on the sticker. The black plastic nut that holds down the shaft is what is cracked. I wish I could find one....

OK SA-1000 Soldering Station
Hi- I bought this station at a yard sale a few years ago for short money, recently the nylon knurled nut that holds down the shaft that holds the iron tip cracked, does anyone know where I can get another one? The iron itself is the SAI-690. I really like the system, but I can't find any sources for spare parts. Hate to throw it out.

Re: Lg42lh30 power supply
WOW! Thanks for the quick replies guys! I really appreciate it. Yes, the fuse was blown out. I had a 1000V volt TO-220 to try but I'm glad I didn't. The switching time on the one I have is 25µs not 40ns. That would have been a problem. I'm gonna rummage around my spare parts and see what I can come up with.
Thanks Again Guys!

Lg42lh30 power supply
Hey Guys-
I have this on my bench right now. I'm looking at the power supply board and there is a diode that popped on it. It's D601 on the board. It's mounted to a heat sink. Unfortunately, when it blew, it knocked the marking off of it. Anybody out there know what the p/n is? or maybe the characteristics of the diode? It's board # EAX55357705/4...

Re: Newbie Soldering Surface Mount 6 PIN IC
Thanks for the replies, I have the flux, I see many different specs on the solder paste. Is there one that works better then the other? I can use regular solder on the 6 legs, I'm more concerned with the bottom of the IC to the PC board interface. I don't want to cook the IC by getting it to hot. Again, I appreciate the feedback guys!

Newbie Soldering Surface Mount 6 PIN IC
Hi- I'm replacing a 6 pin IC on a Panny Plasma. The bottom is also soldered to the board. I have a small heat gun and am wondering what kind of solder to use for the mount of the new IC. I appreciate any and all feedback. I see some low temp stuff in a syringe, not sure if that is what I'm supposed to be using, don't want to damage the new IC.

Re: Wii console won't connect
It doesn't find any Wifi's at all. I was tempted to tear it down and see if a wire came off or if the wifi card had somehow popped off the mother board. I see some LAN cables on EBAY that say they will work for the wii. For 10 bucks, I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Re: Wii console won't connect
It got interesting, while I was fooling around with it, it asked me to update firmware, I said no at first because I knew it wasn't connect to my network. Then, I said screw it, I clicked yes to the update. The latest firmware must have been on the game disk. It then proceeded to perform the firmware update. Maybe it's all set? It just bugged me that the WIFI was dead. It was a cheap Mario brothers disk. I bought it for $20 just to see if the system worked.
I really know nothing about the game stuff, I want to learn more. I have a stupid question,...

Thanks for the quick reply's! I appreciate it. I'm running 4.3, looks like 4.4 is out there, I'll find it and put it on the sd card and try and run it from there?
Thanks again

Re: Wii console won't connect
Not sure, I know very little about these things, but I was excited to find this. I would like to get it going as best as I can for the house. The model number is RVL 001.

Wii console won't connect
I just got a Wii from the local transfer station, it looks brand new with no signs of ever being used. I got it home and played games without problems. The problem I'm having is that when I try to connect with the wireless, it doesn't find any access points. Has anyone ran in to this before? I'm in a busy neighborhood, it should have picked up something.
Appreciate any and all info!!

Insignia NS-46E340A13 Power Problem
When I hit the power button on this TV it takes a minute or two to come on. I checked all the Caps on the power supply board using my Fluke meter, they are all good. Any ideas on this one?
