Re: Philips 42PFL7422D/37 Backlight Issue
Too many screws to just open this unit and some of these screws are inaccessible with the tools I have since there's a metal plate that's obscuring some screws. So I haven't yet opened up the unit yet although I do have the T10 Torx screwdriver for most of the screws.

Re: Philips 42PFL7422D/37 Backlight Issue
If anyone wants a 42PFL7422D/37 Philips TV for cheap, drop me a line. I found this one too difficult to open what to speak of repairing. It's working fine under HDMI, A/V, component, and side A/V. But for coaxial you have to first start up in one of the other input modes and switch after it powers up.
It has a couple of burnt out backlights so picture is overall slightly dimmer than it should be.

Re: Philips 19PFL3504, 32PFL3504, 19PFL3403 Power Supply Issues
Video is a little skippy. Is there a way to figure out which diode is bad (assuming it's a diode) without having to desolder them? I want to minimize my desoldering as I don't have any desoldering equipment. Just have a soldering iron and gun and bunch of components diodes, resistors, fuses, etc. from my electronic lab days in college.

I started my own Philips thread here:

I'm not sure which caps but it's something on the power supply board(s). I guess I need ones that last the longest once I figure out which ones.Re: Hoodwinked?

<br /...ly board(s). I...

Philips 19PFL3504, 32PFL3504, 19PFL3403 Power Supply Issues
Okay, I'm starting this thread in regards to fixing Philips series of LCD HDTVs that have power supply failures which seems to be a common thing.
I bought a few of the Philips LCD TVs and over time these issues have shown up. I tried to get pictures but they seem to blur when I get too close to the circuits so may need to find a better way to get the pictures.
On Philips 32PFL3504-- Fuse is blown on the power supply board. When I put a new one in and plug in the TV, there's a bright light and fuse immediately blows again.
On Philips 19PFL3504-- one...

Re: Hoodwinked?
Do you also sell caps here for the power supply failures of the Philips 19PFL series of LCD TVs?

Re: 42PFL7422D/37 Service Manual Needed
It is a T10 for most of the screws. I tried to open it but there are two screws that are behind this plate at the bottom and cannot be accessed with a T10 screwdriver. Also there seem to be some screws that aren't T10 on top and I'm not sure if they also need to be removed but regardless it didn't open after removing the accessible T10 screws....

Re: 42PFL7422D/37 Service Manual Needed
I have this model (Philips 42PFL7422D/37) and here's what the issue is:
When I turn on the unit with channel set to tuner like channel 3 for Cablebox, it turns on for a second and then goes black but sound remains on and power LED remains on.
When I turn on unit with HDMI input selected, it works fine although I can see a couple of backlights are out when picture is bright. If I power up (cold start) unit in any of HDMI selected modes, I can then switch to channel 3 and it works there as well but not vice-verse....

Re: 40" Philips 40pfl4706/f7 No Power
That's the problem replacing multiple boards ain't worth it given the prices of these units in working condition (used and even new). I have several Philips HDTVs -- 42PFL7422, 19PFL3504, and couple others all with power related issues. It seems Philips TVs usually have that as their weakness.

Re: Philips 42PFL7422D/37 Backlight Issue
I had a similar issue and while searching on google ended up joining this forum. What was the conclusion for this issue?

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Looks like lot of people have similar issue that I had-- TV/Monitor turns on for a few seconds and then black. I was just googling Philips 42PFL7422D/37 backlight failure and saw link to these forums. I am actually a hobbyist who repairs old Atari/Amiga/PC computers but recently acquired a bunch of LCD monitors (old and new) to use for computers and as TVs but ran into some Power/Backlight related issues especially with the Philips TVs so searching around to help narrow down the problem so I don't have to buy every single part...
