Re: Transformer for HP zr24w
It's the secondary that has the low ohms though.
Yeah you are probably right, shorted transformer should show other damage as well.
Nope, didn't do anything with PS-ON, should 5V always be available? So should I try to ground PS-ON and measure voltages again?...

Transformer for HP zr24w
I measured the power supply, 5V is ok, but 12 V and 19 V reads 0 V, just plain dead.
So i measured the caps and diodes, they are fine. So then I looked at one of the transformers, the resistance between the conductors on the secondary is 0.2 ohm, so short circuit.
How do I find a replacement transformer, I really don't understand the markings....

Re: Dell 2408WFP broken power supply
The main fuse conducts.
The primary electrolytic capacitor sits at 330 V.
Both D655 and R668 are surface mound and I'm not that good with desoldering and resoldering surface mount components, but as they are connected in parallel I seem to have to desolder them to measure them. Will do later.
R670 > 20 MOhm, so what will have to be replaced.
EDIT:
R670 now replaced.
The fuse blew when i connected the powersupply.Last edited by gunnish; 06-11-2014, 03:05 PM.

Re: Dell 2408WFP broken power supply
Tested now, the monitor does not react at all, not even the power button light.
I'll look at the resistors and diodes.

Re: Dell 2408WFP broken power supply
Status report:
Rectifying bridge - OK
N_MOSFET K3502 - drain shorted to sources, charging gate does nothing, replaced with K2543
TO-220 diode - works
L6561D -replaced, now socketed
IN5406 - shorted, replaced

Re: Dell 2408WFP broken power supply
Yes, there are two DIP-8 chips in this circuit and the 1203 is still there. The chip for the PFC is blown and as L6561D is a PFC chip, i assumed that this would be the blown chip.
Isn't the diode in this circuit just supposed to be a rectifier? Because you are saying this I assume that is not the case. I assume that it is part of the PFC, what frequency does those normally operate at?...

Re: Dell 2408WFP broken power supply
The diode is a IN5406. It conducts both ways and is physically cracked.

Dell 2408WFP broken power supply
Got this one for free as broke, therefore i do not what did this do it. The monitor did not do anything on startup, I suspected bad caps as always. This was not the case. The power board is defect, the Power Factor corrector is blown and a diode is odd looking.
Basically: am i correct that the PFC is a L6561D (from these schematics https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=56547&d=1359307560 in this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18189&highlight=2408WFP However, the blown chip does not look like a ST to me.)

Re: UPS battery question
Some UPSes have external battery capability for infinity running time. If that is the case, then no problem, use the battery. If is is one of those plastic cased passively cooled units, then you should probably not run it at max load for longed than the rated time.

Re: Lg w2453v
The controller IC is obviously a suspect here, but can it be something else?

These got to be fake right?

Lg w2453v
I have a LG W2453V that initially did not start up. I found several bad caps so i changed all the caps on the secondary side. After this the monitor actually shows picture, but it is blurred.
Check the attached picture, there shouldn't be green/red dots everywhere. There is no signal cable connected, that is why it says so, but the same problem remains when connected via VGA. I have not tested DVI/HDMI yet.
What should I do about this?...

Sorry, I meant to upload them but apparently just pressing the upload button is not enough....

Re: Identify some caps
Is this Rubycon fake? IT seems like the bung would be made of something like fr2. never seen any bung like it. It's 18x21 mm.
The other cap 10x20 mm. I'm not sure what the 'I' means and what brand/model it is....Last edited by gunnish; 10-06-2013, 12:20 PM.

Re: Identify some caps
No I am not replacing any of these, I just want to know the specs. I like to look at electronics and see how good the design and parts choice is....Last edited by gunnish; 10-04-2013, 03:28 PM.

Identify some caps
Need data for the following caps:
Panasonic FJ: seems like no data sheet is available EDIT: ok fixed
Chemi-con KZG: 6,3 V 820 uF 8x24 mm can't find one in that series with that size
Chemi-con OS-CON: what, don't sanyo do theses? Anyway, I can't find a datasheet. 10x11 mm
Fujitsu: thought it was FJ but i can't find a 2.5 V one there. 8x8 mm
Turquoise test on aluminum one: no idea, most likely polymer 8x12 mm
Fujitsu: I don't know the series 8x12 mm
Thank you for any help....Last edited by gunnish; 10-04-2013, 03:17 PM.
