Sorry meant to say all pins were shorted....

Re: Dell 3008wfp faulty power supply
Dead 3008 here as well - waiting for a replacement diode at the moment but this monitor has been a bugger to crack open compared to its smaller siblings.
1. the bezel was stuck on the left hand side. After attempting to remove it and denting the fragile metal skin in several places, the easiest way is to find where the clips are, slide a credit card into (on the outer side of the bezel gap) and downwards into the clip to unlock it. Hint - in general to remove the bezal the safest way is to use your fingers to pry open the bezel on...Last edited by rocket; 06-09-2017, 08:38 PM.

Dell 2408wfp no image
Just came into possession of this monitor. When powered on and connected (to a PC on DVI) I only get an empty screen.
The backlight is working and so is the PIP function but no image is displayed at all, not even the input indicator icon that normally appears on the top left. Pressing the menu button similarly has no effect. Also while in this state it may take a few presses of the power button to turn the monitor off.
Before I crack it open - any general thoughts? From what I gather it appears likely to be a tcon issue.Last edited by rocket; 05-06-2017, 09:23 AM.

Re: Kogan TV PSU PWM controller not turning on?
I've finally had some time to take more measurements and checks:
On C9 I get a very slowly increasing voltage (starts at about 0.5v and then increasing slowly as it took 5 minutes to ramp up to about 0.7v at which point I stopped checking). C9 measures ok to value but I realised I don't have the equipment to test its ESR. There is also a smd cap in parallel (value unknown and not shown in the schematic) which I assume is to lower the overal ESR of the filter.
The resistors/diode on the gate of the mosfet...Last edited by rocket; 01-26-2015, 12:37 AM.

Re: Kogan TV PSU PWM controller not turning on?
Wow - thanks for the quick reply and tips, I will do that when I get a chance later today.
A couple of quick q's:
I'll check the voltage on C9, but on pin 6 of the 6755 it fluctuates between 8v and about 13V. The 6755 has already been replaced and the above pin 6 measurement is with new ic in place.
I'll also remove C9 later and test the esr. Is this the startup cap you were referring to or is it C4/C11?

Kogan TV PSU PWM controller not turning on?
Have a failed single board TV (a Kogan 'smart tv') and am having difficulty why the PSU refuses to turn on after a replacement of AFAIK the damaged components including mosfet and its associated power resistor, pwm controller, main fuse, one of the optocouplers and a couple of small diodes and zeners.
(The failure of the PSU was my fault - accidentally shorted the board). The schematic of the PSU is mostly the same as this one I found:

I noticed that the PWM controller (6755)...Last edited by rocket; 01-21-2015, 05:16 PM.

Re: Dell 2709w No power
Update: I finally had time to crack open the screen. Applying pressure to the main BGA (FLI30366) while plugging it into the mains allowed the monitor to start up. As soon as some flux arrives I'll be attempting to reflow the chip.

Re: Dell 2709w No power
I've come into possession of one of these monitors with multiple issues (vertical strips on the left hand of the screen which go away once warmed up, and recently failure to initialise).
It was pretty obvious that the previous owner (or someone) had attempted a repair but only succeeded in damaging a corner of the screen (now there are a few bright pixels where the screen is damaged - someone had inserted a screwdriver at the screen itself to pry the case open AND broken some clips at the corner). Unbelievable.
Initially on...

Re: Dell 2407WFPb Monitor - Bad Cap
Thanks to this board I have managed to repair my 2405. Many thanks to the contributors. I had the usual initial failures:
R670 (blown - replaced by cheap metal film 2W off ebay)
C605 (blown - replacement sourced from ebay again)
IC651 L6561D (destroyed - replaced over ebay)
Q651 SK3502 (shorted pins on testing - replaced via ebay)
Oddly the fuse was still intact but the monitor did not power on.
Then replaced:
IC601 NCP1200D (from RS couldn't wait!)
ZD601 15V 0.5W zener from local shop...
