Now that it is dark here in CA, i have checked it and nothing on the screen comes on. I am not sure if sound comes on but i don't think so.

Once again any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't believe it does but it is light right now and the room is pretty bright. I have it on a surge protector and when i cup my eye on the screen i don't notice any difference when i give it power or turn the TV on.

  • Vizio Plama 50 inch

Let me start off by saying this TV was given to me and i know someone had tried to fix it but i don't think that tried that hard.

I have no clue what the model number is to this TV as the sticker has been removed. The TV symptoms are, when turned on both Y and X boards are humming like plasma's do, there is no picture, and the logic board to my little knowledge is suppose to have a light that blinks like a heart beat and either 2 light stay lit or only one stays lit no blinking at all.

I am looking for some sort of troubleshooting tips. Any help is greatly appre...

  • Re: Sony KDL-52W5100 Bad Panel?

Here is my reservation about getting another TCON. The spot(line) where it starts to shadow that you see now is the same spot but what is below that spot has changed dramatically.

I tried the freeze spay on the tabs and nothing helped, the TV stayed the same. I don't know if it matters but the TV loads up without problem (says Bravia and then the input), it is only after it loads the input (HDMI, TV, and so on) that the line shows up.

I know i said it before but when the T-Con board was sprayed with freeze spay it changed the picture alot. Should i source another T-Con board?

Here are a few pics of the tabs...

I do have tabs on both sides of the panel. What would be the next step if freeze spay did fix it for the temporary time of lower temperature?

  • Re: Sony KDL-52W5100 Bad Panel?

I have taken the TV completely apart and i had no response to any sort of physical contact with any of the tabs side horizontal or vertical. I think changes when contacting the tabs indicates bonding issues. Is there any other way to trouble shoot the drivers on the tabs other than removing them?

There are side tabs connected to the panel just no PCB.

  • Re: Sony KDL-52W5100 Bad Panel?

I have read that post a few times now to try to understand the method used by Freak. I know that the models are completely different but all LCDs have many things in common. I am trying to apply the directions that Freak explained, but before performing any sort of surgery but i don't believe this Sony has any sort of side PCB. I think the only PCB that are connected to tabs are the top 2 that also connect to the T-Con. When i read what Freak posted it sounds like that Vizio has PCB with tabs on more than one side of the TV?

    Am i missing...

  • Sony KDL-52W5100 Bad Panel?

When the KDL-52W5100 first started to have problems the lower 3/4 of the right side of the TV screen had slow response times then the entire lower 3/4 of the screen was beyond slow and a huge blur. I have taken this TV apart and checked the tabs with no response so it's not the bonding there. I have access to an extra main board with no change when replaced. My brother (the owner of the TV) bought another T-Con board and the problem stayed the same when changed, that T-Con board was sourced from ebay and returned. I read that the serial number on the T-Con board is important but i never seen the...

  • Re: Sony BU board question

I have seen that video maybe 3 times and am well aware of how they take model numbers and the Service Manual does have the right stuff in it not just some random stuff. It is more so a question of what all will work and i have been reading and what i have come to the conclusion of is what model TV is the BU board flashed for.

  • Sony BU board question

I Have a KDL-52W5100 and i have a thread that has been forgotten and i apologize over starting a new thread over this but my question is simple.

I am looking at the service manual i found and it says to use "A-1734-658-A" and i went to shop jimmy and it showed that model number board to be used in this TV however when i looked at the board in the actual TV it was a "A-1671-682-A" and this looks to be used in the XBR9 a different TV and 65 inch models as well, so should i look to get another 1671 or a 1734??

Nope, I also did a factory reset, check for update it said it didn't need one & had the TV do a self diagnostics and nothing.

  • 52 kdl-52w5100 picture problem

    TV is a Sony 52 kdl-52w5100,

This is my buddy's TV and he thinks i can help him so what they hey. The TV works in every way except the bottom 3/4 of the screen has a slightly distorted picture along with ghosting but it fades from right to left? I know he had the TV like this for a while and sent it my way when that 3/4 of the screen went completely black and he couldn't get it back on til he brought it to me?

He has 2 T-Con boards and both show the same picture so i don't think that is the problem but i could be wrong, i tested the power going to the T-Con board...
