Re: Glue or bad capcitors?
Still looking for someone in NY who is able to troubleshoot a UPS.
Basically every computer company etc I've called say they cant service cyberpower and cyberpower do zero repairs in the USA and are telling me to junk it.

Re: Glue or bad capcitors?
Nope I looked and can only see the 3 blade fuses.....would be easier with a schematic :0
I think i'm going to have to find someone in manhattan who has experience with troubleshooting UPS's for a repair. It could be as simple as a faulty switch but without knowing how to test the various points i'm shooting blindly here....Last edited by DeanCollins; 09-16-2013, 11:36 AM.

Re: Glue or bad capcitors?
thanks BudM, the layout is different so i'll have to go and hunt around to see if there is something similar on the board (eg on your photo you seem to only have 2 blade style fuses - top left).

Re: Glue or bad capcitors?
In the 2200va unit all 8 power outlets run from the battery (so different to the 1500 which is 3 and 3 I think).
There are 3 fuses (if you see the main heatsing top center the capacitors I thought were faulty are to the right of it then to the right again is the 3 fuses).
They are "blade style" eg like a car fuse. and all 3 are good.
Are you saying there is another fuse near the back? (eg under the Ethernet port?) I couldn't see any back there.

Re: Glue or bad capcitors?
Its a 2200VA model - Cyberpower PR2200LCDRTXL2U
And nope....no noises, no clicks, no nothing. If someone could tell me which points to test on the switch I'd test it as almost like the mechanical on/off switch doesn't work but it mechanically stops half way etc just fine.

Sure, I also took a photo of the top and closeup on the motherboard
Let me know if you need anything else.

Re: Glue or bad capcitors?
well that sucks, thanks though Domas, now I have a bigger problem trying to work out what is wrong with this cyberpower PR2200LCDRTXL2U.
Anyone know/want to recommend someone in NYC that can trouble shoot this at a reasonable price that means I don't have to junk it?Last edited by DeanCollins; 09-15-2013, 01:28 PM.

Glue or bad capcitors?
hmmm can I get a second opinion confirming if these are busted capacitors or if this is just glue for snap-in capacitors?
Basically the unit was working fine, was powered down to move to another room and now wont power back on.
I tested the batteries (52volts at the connecter and 12v on each of the battery terminals) so not faulty batteries.
Basically the mechanical switch to turn on/off depresses halfway out just fine but no lights/fans just wont display any activity at all.
Or does anyone have someone in New York city...

Re: the gutless, bloated, and fried power supply hall of shame
hmmm can I get a second confirming that its just glue?
That sucks as it is the only obvious thing I can see.
Does anyone have someone in New York city (I'm in Brooklyn heights) that they can recommend to check it out?
I'm comfortable pulling the board and soldering replacement capacitors but out of my league to trouble shoot a circuit.
I tested the batteries (52v at terminal and 12v on each individual battery) so don't think that's the issue...
