  • Re: Need help troubleshooting a sylvania LC420SS8 power supply

    It is highly unlikely it's going to be smt or tht or any such BS as that. The technology on this set is VERY antiquated and HARD to obtain. I had to get an ic for this set from Japan, and it took 3 tries...they kept sending the same part, in a smaller "package".
    I detest someone trying to use abbreviations for technology they don't understand. If you narrow it down to a board, it's much easier and cheaper to replace the board itself.

    I think the problem is bad led(s). The led's flash on and off with the click of the relay. The LED's in the center on both sides flash I have found one bad LED.

I have Vcc on the 2 inputs from an outline of the IC (TDA8946AJ). I have nothing on the scope at the L/R inputs, but I can touch the inputs using the old wet-finger method, and I get a hum, so it seems that the IC is working. .....one thought, though; there is a regulator Q27 that reads:
    I=11.58V
    o=12.2V
    Adj.=12.2V
    I need to work on my crossing/ subbing skills, but I can't find this part number anywhere on the...

    Hi Guys,
    I feel out of place somewhat, here, but everybody's gotta start somewhere, I guess. My name: Joe Dickerson. My previous: Aviation Electronics Technician. My job in the Navy aboard the USS Independence (carrier) was to repair the "black boxes" that came off of the F4's and the E2B's....some A6's. These included the AFCS (automatic flight control system), the ADC (air data computer), the INS (inertial navigation system), and so forth and so on. After 2 1/2 years, They placed me on TDRL (temporary disability...
