  • Re: Samsung LE40R81b not turning on (relay clicking on and off)

    DannyX - I have just gone on the same journey as you described with a LA32R81. It had a tcon board problem and I also had the constant re-booting. After fixing a tcon board, I found that it continued to re-boot. I replaced the EEPROM with a new IC and forced SDA to Vcc for 30secs on power up - clear/re-write the EEPROM settings, but the same behaviour - rebooting.
    In desperation, tried the setting you mentioned in the Service menu (from "off" to "on", as you indicated) and on restart, it appeared...

    Thank for your comment re-atari. After a long delay due to other distractions, I just got around to checking the main board and what looks like solder blob in the photo is a reflection for some flux on the board.

  • Re: UA32C6900 continuous restaring

    I tested the tcon on the bench (nothing else connected to it). I supplied 12VDC to the input fuse.
    The current draw cycled from about 40mA to about 65mA every second (or less). I assumed this should have been relatively stable (I checked a tcon from a similar model which was steady on 70mA).
    The test-point measurements were a mixture of stable voltages for some test points and cyclic variation for other test points.
    VCC33 = 3.3V
    AVDD = (3.3 <-> 1.4)V
    VCC12 - 1.2V
    VREFU_H = (3.3 <-> 1.3)V
    VREFU_L...

  • Re: UA32C6900 continuous restaring

    For future reference for others, here are the photos of the full layout of the boards in this TV.
    The area I heated on the main board to initiate the change in display response (post#17) was near the antenna input at the bottom and the generally within about 60mm of this. Unfortunately I was unable to work out any more precisely the location that made the difference as the display never reverted to the previous fault image and now I dont have any image at all....

  • Re: UA32C6900 continuous restaring

    Davi.p I don't understand. Are you saying I should try to connect an external 12VDC supply to the TCON while it is connected to everything else in the TV (VLDS and panel ribbon cables) or are you talking about doing the test of the TCON board on the bench alone? This is not a test I have done/seen before.
    The symptoms I explained in post #16 changed after I applied some heat to the bottom area of the main board(refer to post#17), not the TCON, and have not returned even after being turned off for the past 2 hours. There is no image on the...

  • Re: UA32C6900 continuous restaring

    I've just tried the heat gun pointed at the bottom of the mainboard and initially I had just the vertical lines shown on the previous image I attached (with regular reboots still) but then the image no longer came up at all and there is no chime between the reboots (relay clicks every 7secs). I tried to let it cool down a bit and tried a little bit of butane (carefully) to try to cool the area but it remains in the 7sec boot state, without any image or chime.
    Ill try it again after it fully cools down.

    Any further thought...

  • Re: UA32C6900 continuous restaring

    Ive attached a still image from the restarting TV. This is what I see after the start up chine and before it reboots. I haven't taken the back off again yet, but will do so to try applying some heat and cooling of the main board....

  • Re: UA32C6900 continuous restaring

    Budm - yes sounds very similar to OP, with constant reboots and the voltages seeming ok, although I can't be certain that the image issues I see are the same as OP. I will try to upload a photo later in the week (I've put it aside to work on a different TV for the moment.
    Davi.p - you could be right about needing a board replacement, but I don't like to give up without a bit of a fight!
    I'll get the heat gun out and also find some freeze air to see if I can induce any change in behaviour.

    No metal shield on my main board other than the TV tuner can - I assume this is not what you are (were) talking about?...

    I don't suppose you ever got this TV working did you - I have one here with the exact same symptoms. All voltages on the on the PS board, Y-SUS, X-Main, etc appear ok and stable.

  • Re: LGE2132 BGA replacement

    Good work. Apologies for a delayed inquiry on this.
    I just found what looks like a short on the LGE2132 BGA of the main board of LG42LB5610 LED TV. How did you conclude that this was the likely problem before you decided to replace it?
    I noticed that the 3.5V supply line from the power board was dropping to about 2.1V when connected to the main board. When I separately provided 3.5V to the main board from my bench PS, it was drawing ~0.6Amps and the BGA was getting quite warm. Nothing else appeared to be getting warm, although the optical...

  • Re: Samsung PS58C7000 plasma TV service manual?

    Very many thanks Thunter - I had a no-image PS63C7000, that would show some life when I removed the top buffer board. Based on your post, I inspected the Caps on the upper buffer and noted one had failed on one end - similar to what you described (under the clear silicon). Replaced this with a through-hole 100nF cap and it is back up and running.

    Happy happy camper....

    What should the z-diode D5502 read? I get readings of 0.92V and 0.65V in each direction using the diode setting on the multimeter (tested in circuit)....

    Can you confirm what the "small blue capacitors" you are referring to? Are they: C5828, C5018 and C5014 which are all marked "331k 1kV"?...

  • Re: Samsung Plasma TV model PN64F8500 power on issue

    I can confirm that this fix also worked for a PS60E8000 that had the same symptoms. I have now fixed a couple of similar TVs with this method - fantastic! Many thanks to esegan on AVSforum and miamichillin99 and dick_barton for posting the link here.

    By the way, the offending caps didn't have any visible signs of problems on either of the boards I fixed.

    Yep, that was my problem - replaced the BM1117-ADJ on the main board and up and running now.

  • Re: Soniq E40W13C AU backlight led voltages

    I'm just looking at a Soniq 32E32W13D-AU tonight with exactly the same symptoms. I just measured the middle voltage regulator on the main board and it measures 0.54VDC between pins 1 and 2 - looks like I might have the same faulty adjustable regulator that you found.

    If I can find a replacement in my parts bin I'll let you know if I've solved my problem TV also.

    For those playing along at home - the part number is: BM1117-ADJ on my main board

    It looks like QP802 and QP804 have shorted (both of these are K18A60V MOSFETS). The short measured across output of rectifier BD802S has now gone.
