Re: and a list of known junk power supplies
wow...seasonic puts up some good numbers for their price range. almost all of their PSUs are like up to 80% eff. and it sounds like they use reasonably decent caps too. anyone know how tight the voltage variation is on the seasonic stuff usually? my antec has like 3% and i know PCP&C usually touts a 1% voltage variation.

Re: Just got me a new Epox board, hopefully they keep building them like this..
i guess it is a little harsh. im just pissed at the board. its kinda like after your girlfriend gets caught cheating on you....youre going to be pissed for a while. plus im not going to be upgrading for at least almost a year. (basic training july-dec.) maybe then ill reconsider my relationship to epox.

Re: and a list of known junk power supplies
what about the names weve all been conditioned to trust in the PC building community? Antec, Enermax, PC power and cooling...those are the only few i know that i would buy. i have an antec, i want a pc power and cooling, and ive heard good things about enermax.

Re: EVGA motherboard?
its probably cheaper to make three slots instead of two slots with the different mechanisms for choosing single or SLi mode. and i think it sounds easier than some of th emotherboards ive seen (albeit it uses up more space then the other methods). hmm...i havent heard much about jetway? do they make good products? this board looks ok...although it seems the price is a bit much for the features....
also, whats a 3 phase VRM? and why is that low-end?
oh and no, i dont know of any better pics, i got that off newegg...

Re: Just got me a new Epox board, hopefully they keep building them like this..
ive got an older socket A epox board...8kra2+...overclocked my cpu from 2500+ to 3200+ for a long time...board has 11 bad caps on it. everything from the caps around the cpu to the caps around the ram to the caps under the AGP slot. at the end of its life, the board gave me graphics card errors and i had to crank up the ram voltage to 2.9 volts to run stable. i didnt know much about bad capacitors before i got to this forum so i didnt know i needed to replace the board. luckily there was no damage...

Re: DFI LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR Venus
on my socket A EP8KRA2+ there are TEAPOs right next to the proc. slot. this is of course looking back, because the reason i can see the labels on them is that theres already 9 bad caps on it and i replaced the mobo about a week ago with an ABIT sporting almost entirely rubycons. sigh...the epox board had some nice features...but i will never buy another epox....

Re: Who makes MOBOs with the best caps ?
well i just bought an ABIT NF7-S2G motherboard (socket A, yea i know its outdated, but im not upgrading for a while and my epox has 9 bad caps on it). all the caps on the NF7 are rubies, except three, and those are chiciron or whatever that brand it. but from what ive read around the forums is that you just gotta look at the particular motherboard, cause different boards and different revisions often use different parts, even within the same brands. my suggestion is if you want to order a mobo online is to go to your local computer store...
