• Re: Samsung HL67A750 DLP with bad caps!

Well, I finally gave up on finding time/space to repair this thing and sold it off I got a whopping $75 for it, but at least it's out of the way, and will soon be replaced with a Samsung UN65F6400, so while I'm sad to see the DLP go, I'm looking forward to the new addition

Thanks to everyone who helped troubleshoot this beast, I really wish I could have dedicated more time and resources to working on it, I have a definite respect for the engineers that created DLP, so many parts and so much to make everything work together......

Good to see another North Carolina resident here Yeah, the mainboard fixed it, in fact, I've been using the TV as my main TV since replacing that board, without even a hiccup. I finally sold the broken DLP, and will be putting up a new 65" LED in a week or so and finally moving this TV up to the bedroom....

  • Success Story - Sony KDL-40V3000

I've posted so much for help on here, I wanted to share a success story instead this time. Got a Sony KDL-40V3000 off of FreeCycle, when I plugged it in, 13 blinks. Did some research here and on Google, broke the TV down the the CCFLs, sure enough one of them was dead. $24.94 including shipping from CCFL Warehouse, and the light I ordered on Sunday evening arrived today, IMMACULATELY packed... They go to great lengths to protect those lights!

30 minutes to break the TV back down to the backlights, 2 minutes to replace the tube, and 15 minutes to button it all back up and I have...

I got it from www.skysearchersystems.com. The guy there had to order it from Samsung, they had to ship it to him then he turned around and shipped it to me. He's in Arizona, I'm in NC. When he ordered it, he ordered from Samsung's west coast warehouse, but they were out of stock, so they had to sent it from their east coast warehouse, out to him, then back to me. Probably took a little longer than it could have, but the guy there is great to work with, and the communication from them was really good.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I was holding out hope someone might answer. Can someone tell me if replacing the (apparently) failed "Source driver" is even possible on this model, or should I strip what I can out of this thing and scrap the rest?

"Some LCD panel failures could possibly be mistaken for TCON issues. Other than damage to the LCD glass, most panel failures are isolated to a particular area of the screen. Since the TCON disperses the pixel data to groups of line and column drive IC’s situated on the outer edges of the panel, it is unlikely that more than one of these IC’s would fail at the same time. Multiple columns of stuck on or stuck off pixels are, therefore, more likely to be the fault of the TCON circuits. The same applies to a single row of lit...

ok, fuse replaced, T-con working, TV powers up! Now that I've gotten it to this point, I'm able to troubleshoot the original issue, which was lines on the screen. I checked the tab bonds, and one cable in particular (top right corner of the screen, when looking at the front) fixes almost the entire problem, but leaves one vertical line, approximately 1 pixel wide down the whole panel. I've attached a few pictures of the line, plus one picture showing the issue when the cable isn't being held down to the board.

    Any thoughts on...

I ordered a fuse, should be here in the next couple of days. I'll see where it goes from there.

That inverter board looks like either someone already did a repair on it (look around the legs of the caps and the inverters themselves) or that was a piss-poor job at the factory...

    Audiovox FPE3205

    Hey all,

Have an Audiovox FPE3205 with some powerup issues, it appears all the caps on the PSU are Jianghai JH series caps, except for one TL series. I was able to get almost all the caps from someone, but he left out the main one that was bulging - a 400v 150uf cap. I have looked all over Mouser, Digikey, and Newark, and have not been able to find anything matching those specs (or close, I even tried looking as high as 450v) in one of the "known good/reliable" series from Nichicon, Rubicon, Panasonic, UCC... nothing. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do there? I...

Good catch, I must have left that unplugged during my earlier, misguided attempt at troubleshooting. I reconnected it, but that didn't have any impact on operation at the moment (although I'm sure it would one I get the t-con fixed.

so, anyone have any input on that t-con fuse? Is that a slow-blo fuse, or do I need to get something else? do you think just replacing that fuse will work, or could this guy have actually shorted something putting the bezel back on?

Ok, Wife woke up and Disney princesses kept the 4 year old occupied long enough for me to check, I've attached a pic of what I believe is the fuse in question along with an over-all pic of the T-con, and it is definitely popped. I can't tell what kind of fuse that is to order a replacement, but it appears to maybe be one of these.Re: Sony KDL-46VL130 Red Light 8 blinks

Admittedly, I did not. It was close to 2 am by the time I got everything re-assembled. I'll check that tonight. I have a very inquisitive 4 year old, who likes to get involved in everything daddy does. Which is good, except when she likes to touch things and ask what they are... The last thing I need to do is explain to momma why our daughter got electrocuted....... That means the only time I get to work on this stuff is after she's in bed, since my "workbench" is my kitchen table....

  • Re: Sony KDL-46VL130 Red Light 8 blinks

Good news/good news/bad news. Got the new AU board in, replaced it, and I no longer get the 8 blinks. I also double checked what I thought was a fuse before, and it's a resistor, so that's good.

Bad news - the TV still gives 5 blinks when turned on, indicating a T-con failure. I've checked and triple checked the connections to the T-con, and everything is secure. The previous owner said he was taking the bezel on and off repeatedly to try to fix an issue with lines in the screen (I'm guessing he was futzing with the tab bonds)...

Found one on CL, listing is asking $100, I'm thinking of going a lot lower, if you guys don't think this is a bad panel. Thoughts?

  • Re: Dead Olevia 265TFHD-T11

I see this is kind of old, but if the two PSUs are identical, did you try swapping them around, and seeing if you get the same results? I see the one PSU has an extra cable connected, the one that is supplying the ~22v, it's possible that maybe just that one portion has issues, and swapping them around may get you some extra life from the TV...
