Re: LG 42" Plasma 42PJ560R - no picture
I checked the power board again. I am getting low voltage at pin 16 AC DET- 1.6 V , it should be 4.93 V.

Thank you tw2005 for the service manual. This manual perfectly matches my TV. I had been searching for the correct manual but did not find a complete one.
Many thanks again for your effort.

Re: LG 42" Plasma 42PJ560R - no picture
Thanks for coming back to me.
Now, regarding the jumper, I will have to use two 100 ohm resistors, right?. One between 5V stby and M_ON and the other between 5V stby and RL_ON (please see attached pic). Should this connector and all the other connectors be connected during the test? Also, what will happen after jumpering? Will the TV show any test patterns or normal display. Please explain the steps in detail, as I am afraid that if I do something wrong, I might blow something up....

Re: LG 42" Plasma 42PJ560R - no picture
The 50PJ350 service manual says that, to to test the control board led, the STBY 5V from smps has to be jumped to pin 3 of IC231 of ctrl board. If the led is on, then the board is OK. But, the IC no. on my board is different - IC 121. If it's same, how to locate pin 3 ?

Is there a way to start the tv with the control and main board disconnected?

The small transformer is making a faint hissing sound. I have to keep my ear about an inch from it to hear it....

By blinking LED do you mean the red power led or the green control board led. The red power led never blinks , it lights up and fades out as the set powers on-- just like normal operation.

Re: LG 42" Plasma 42PJ560R - no picture
Can it be possible that there are bad capacitors on the YSUS board that is causing the display to go black- a common problem with LG TVs. As I earlier said that the TV used to start with a black screen and started working in a single on/off try and the number of tries increased with time . Maybe the logic board is not giving any test pattern because of this.

Re: LG 42" Plasma 42PJ560R - no picture
I did like you said. The LED did not blink even once and a sort of sparking electrical noise (like when you are tuning a radio) was coming from the power supply board. It disappeared when I restarted the set after reconnecting the power to the YSUS.

I will check it again. How to isolate the YSUS and ZSUS boards?

So, should I check the YSUS board? Could a bad YSUS board cause the LED to stop blinking?
