Re: 42LG30 TV flashing on and off, replaced power board, no change, stumped!
Actually, the tiny power button on the board is what was bad. I took the tiny metal shield off of it with a small flat head screwdriver and took out the tiny plastic black disc button, so only the 3 small contacts remain inside. Then I took some thin double-sided mesh tape and stuck some aluminum foil to it, then cut it down into a very small square and stuck it on the outer power button's raised area that presses the inner power button on the board. There's not really any springiness when the power button...

Re: 42LG30 TV flashing on and off, replaced power board, no change, stumped!
Did you ever get this problem figured out?
If not, try taking the power button/IR receiver board out, soaking it in alcohol for a few minutes (I used 91%), scrubbing it down with an alcohol-soaked toothbrush (pay extra attention to the leads for the IR sensor, mine had some residue around them on the back side of the board) , letting the board dry (a few minutes under a good ceiling fan on high should do the trick) and putting it back in the TV. Worked for me on the exact same set with the exact same...

42LG30 Power Cycling, Bad Power Button/IR Board?
I recently got a 42LG30 that constantly power cycles. The TV will turn on, stay on for about 2 seconds, turn off, turn back on, and loop like that. Voltages being output at the power supply connectors look alright. Whenever I unplug the power button/IR receiver board the TV will stay on but I am unable to control it. Having the side buttons plugged into the power button/IR board doesn't make any difference to the power cycling. Is this board a common problem in LG TVs, or is the mainboard actually causing the problem somehow?
I may be able to pull another of these boards from an identical...

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
Mine did that too, been working fine since I took off the shield and thermal pads (take the thick gray pad and cut it down so it just barely covers the one small chip on the back of the tcon board, and slice it in about half thickness-wise) and zip tied a 120mm computer case fan to the tcon board area and plugged it into an empty spot on the power supply. Watch out for the tcon ribbons when you zip tie the fan down.

Vizio SV420M Troubleshooting, Power Surge
I recently picked up a Vizio SV420M LCD TV that had gone through a lightning storm. It does not turn on at all. I believe I have narrowed it down to the main board being bad (at least) but would like some input from others. The 5 amp fuse did not blow, has no extra resistance. I have tested the power supply/inverter and backlight, they seem to work fine, the 12v will output when the power supply is forced on, both backlights work when the inverter is forced on. The weird thing is that when the left TCON board cable (right cable on the main board, the wider one) is plugged in, the backlight does...

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
Now for some reason when I tune the TV to digital cable channels through coax they have an interframe streaking effect where there is motion, as if the interpolation/120hz feature is broken. Doesn't happen on 1080p from my computer through HDMI 3. Opening and dismissing the menu makes the TV work properly. It only does this about 50% of the time.
Seems to be working better after being on for a few minutes, maybe the digital signal was weak? or maybe removing the heat shield is allowing interference to reach the...Last edited by dejo87; 07-26-2013, 03:14 PM.

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
I may try baking it if this doesn't work, anyone have any input on that? I've fixed an old 8800GT video card by baking it, three times... still works amazingly, using it right now. I'd put it in the oven for about 10 minutes at 385 degrees or so, I figured this board might be good with a little less time though.

Re: Philips 52PFL5704D/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video.
I took the TCON board off again, wash, rinse, repeat, and left off the thermal pads and heat shield, except I took the small thick gray thermal pad and cut it down to be slightly smaller than the chip on the backside of the board, I wanted it to still have a pad on it since it doesn't get direct airflow and the gray pads seemed less likely to cause any kind of shorting issues since they felt less sticky and oily than the white pads. Cleaning the board causes it to work again every time, I checked to make sure that it was still...
