Re: Vertical Green Stripe Samsung LN52A580
Oh, ok, so not really any value to that TV then.
The one I offered $40 was the 42" Samsung that turns off after using it for a little while.

Is there anyway to get rid of burn in? Or is that a permanent thing?
I'm still waiting to hear back from the first guy on the other TV, which is why I haven't bought it, haha. I offered him $40, but he wasn't interested.Re: Vertical Green Stripe Samsung LN...way to get rid

"Tv has a beautiful clear picture. There are no scratches anywhere and the screen is fully entact. After a while the picture goes out and the screen goes black but this only lasts seconds at most. We will be replacing it as soon as our order for a new tv comes in. It is very heavy (90 lbs.?) and two strong persons are needed to move it. If interest respond with your local phone number. We will then call you."

Re: Vertical Green Stripe Samsung LN52A580
I asked about that, they said it uses an external power supply? I didn't think computer power supplies were high voltage at all (24V max?), just high amperage. Think something could have been damaged by them attempting to use a computer power supply?
I wonder if he just bought the TV without a power supply and it never worked for him because he was attempting to power it up with a computer power supply.

Vertical Green Stripe Samsung LN52A580
Hey guys, I joined up here because I am interested in attempting to fix a TV. What I found on craigslist is a 52" Samsung with a large green stripe down the center:

Is this something that can be fixed or is this an issue with the screen itself?
I'm new to the TV repair world, but not to working with soldering, DMM, and so on.
Thanks!
Side note, another one I was thinking about (not nearly as nice when fixed, but would be a lot smaller loss if I failed at fixing it,...Last edited by superman22x; 07-14-2013, 04:14 PM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey guys, great forum you have here! I joined up to do a little learning. I love tinkering, and thought, why not try fixing a TV. Been browsing craigslist and see plenty of plasmas that don't seem to need extensive work based on what I've read here, so I figured maybe I could give this whole repair game a shot. I usually work on cars/bikes/snowmobiles. Fixing things is a bit of a hobby. I'm a mechanical engineer at Ford (intern) also. Electronics aren't my specialty, but I am a part of a hybrid electric vehicle team. I just like...
