  • Re: Dell Power Supply NPS-250KB B

Just found some more links to add to yours and mine knowledge

Hand written paper notes of moding a supply to output 13.5V for powering a radio.

  • Re: Unbranded "Titan" 1000W power supply

I was curious to compare Rated specs to Gross Watt input numbers.
I think the two 12 Volt output sections are rated too HIGH at 27/29 amps.

    Voltage Current Power Notes
    3.3 36 118.8
    5 37 185
    12 27 324 12V1
    12 29 348 12V2
    12 0.8 9.6 minus 12V
    5 3 15 5V Stand By
Total 1000.4 Max Output Power. Yes I now see where this number is calculated for the Titan.

    240 6 1440 Total Input Power
    1000 1440 69% Power Efficiency...

  • Re: Blue esr mester low readings

You are measuring the ESR Effective Series Resistance, Pio. You have performed some good testing to understand what your ESR meter outputs under good condition for capacitor under test. 0.02, 0.08, 0.2 are good numbers. Yes a bad severely bulged cap gives me 1.3 ohms.
I work on ATX Power Supply Units good electrolytic capacitors have low ESR, when they bulge or are bad they have ESRs 0.8 or 1.X and above. Think of high frequency AC current, low ESR low heat generated. High ESR high heat generated. Power = I squared R = curent x current...
