  • Re: Insignia NS-46E340A13

My experience with this TV (Insignia NS-46E340A13):
    1. Color (using default factory settings) could be better - much improved (but still not great) by installing firmware update 2.05.
    2. Power on problems / won't power on at all - solved by replacing U403, the EPROM on the Main Board. Replacement EPROM costs about $20 on eBay. Instructables.com has a good tutorial on this titled "How to Repair Dead Mainboard on INSIGNIA LED TV NS-46e3401a13."

  • Re: RCA L40FHD41YX9 line on screen.

The horizontal shapes shown in the picture are almost certainly shadows caused by deformation or delamination of the diffuser layer(s) in the LCD panel. Diffusers are just thin sheets of flexible plastic and you may be able to replace them with comparable material removed from a similar-sized TV with a cracked LCD. Check the YouTube video titled "LCD TV Repair Secrets - Horizontal Lines (or shapes) on the Screen" and you'll see exactly what the problem is.

  • Re: Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR4 324046whc6lv2.2 TCON fix

Many thanks for posting this fix. My KDL-32XBR4(Made in Mexico, July '07; s/n = 8014751) also displayed vertical, multi-colored lines on startup. As given to me, it would take 15 minutes for the vertical, multi-colored lines to go away. I was able to reduce the wait time from 15 minutes to 15 seconds by changing R6145, 1M, 1/8W (measured 1.5M) and C6205, 1000uF/35V (badly overheated jacket) on the power supply board (marked APS-229 (CH), P/N 1-474-052-12), but I was never able to eliminate the problem altogether. And sometimes,...
