Apologies first of all for horrible delay from my last post. Due to various s@@t going on the Samsung was the least of my worries and therefore ignored. However, when browsing the bay of fleas last week I managed to find a y main/sus board for £9.00 and thought it better than trying to source caps e.t.c.
Old one out, new one in and success. So a big thanks to the Badcaps community (especially Tom) for the patience shown to a noob. Would have gone to a specialist for no doubt a quite expensive repair, with this forums help, a grand...
Hi Tom, will begin looking for a replacement Y-main now. I have also uploaded a pic of the board, would it be possible to mark which caps may be dodgy and if poss. supply a link on how to test them. Once again thanks for all your help and once the Y-main arrives I will post on here the outcome,
cheers Dave....
There's no adjustment that I can see on the Y-main so I adjusted-Vsc to -194 which put the Ve up to 84.4, checked the picture and it still looks poor.

Hi again,
I changed the x-main board as it was cheap, no change, meter readings are as follows
VS 201 and is 200, VA 58 and is 57.9 and VSC -180 is 179.9 so damn close I think. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
cheers,
Dave
Hi Aaron,
Normally on these it will be a minimum 12 months, I got this in payment for some work I did and was told the screen had burn in problems, well it's a bit more serious than that I am afraid, got the x-main today and replaced, no change, after reading through a few of the posts on here looks like it maybe t-con problem,
regards,
Dave.
Re: Firefox/Waterfox and Broadband users, READ THIS!!
Followed the advise to the point of setting network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 12 and it seems faster. I use FF/Tor/Ixquick together which is not good for speed but it does seem better,
thanks,
Dave
Hi people, my name is Dave, newbie, first post (be gentle) and I will appreciate any help you guys can give me.
Being totally new to the repair of any sort of tv by myself I first ask for your patience if I ask any stupid questions.
When watching the screen it looks snowy and grainy, I get pink patches and green dots on screen, very "contrasty" the problem is worse on bright backgrounds, if the picture, say, is showing an inside shot that is quite dark it looks ok. It also ghosts bright images from previous frames, if that makes any sense. The TV is only...
Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi people,
I stumbled upon this forum a couple of days ago after receiving a faulty TV as part payment to a job I did (yes, I had been drinking) anyhow, name's Dave, from the UK and I started on this frustrating and occasionally satisfying electrical/electronic madness when at 16 was mad enough to purchase an oh so reliable Atari 520 with a wonderful backup service.
Like to pick up a bit of knowledge along the way so if I ask stupid questions, post in the wrong place and submit incorrect pics to a topic then do...
