  • Re: Samsung LN46B640R3FUZA - Junkyard Find - Missing Switch Panel

Perfect - thanks! I'm up to a dozen or so TV's from the landfill and Craigslist (and a Yamaha surround sound system, a couple of computers, a weather station, . . . .) either repaired or parted, inspired and assisted from the folks on this list. What a great resource - you guys rock!

  • Samsung LN46B640R3FUZA - Junkyard Find - Missing Switch Panel

l recently picked up a Samsung LN46B640R3FUZA at the local landfill. When I turned it on, it seems to work pretty well, except for a faint 6" or so vertical slight lightening of the picture just right of center. I'll explore the tab fixes discussed elsewhere for that problem.

The other problem is that it has no front bezel. The screws from the back screw into the remnants of the front bezel - they all have black plastic cylinders attached. Perhaps the unit was dropped? There is a 6-wire (1 blue, five white) ribbon cable sticking out that comes from the IR board with the metal...

  • Re: polaroid tv capacitor identification

Found a TDA-03211c at the county landfill. Plugged it in, and nothing - which I took as a good sign. Replaced the two caps and it lit right up. Only problem is . . . the LCD has been damaged and all I get is the pretty lines and designs.

Guess that shows the downside of fixing TV's of unknown origins. Looks like it's time to part it out on eBay.

Or is there something inside that can be fixed / replaced?

I'm pretty good for an amateur. I've soldered the e321vl eprom, mini-usb jacks, etc. Any idea where to find one? Google didn't help.

You mean the metal box on the board? Is it replaceable? Or is it part of the main board?...

Thanks Tom, Bud. I had to post here since, as a newbie, I couldn't start a thread.

Sorry for the confusion, but the Philips TV is working fine. It's the Vizio with the problem. The specs do list "Built-in ATSC digital/NTSC analog tuner", though so I assume I'm okay there.

What a great resource! I received a Philips 19PFL5422d_27 TV from Freecycle, and Googled my way here. After a few bucks in caps, I was back in business. Then a few weeks ago, I picked up a Vizio e321VL at the local landfill. Again, Google pointed me to the eprom posts here and now it's working fine . . . almost.

The component, composite inputs, and HDMI inputs work fine. Problem is, it can't find any channels. A channel scan shows 0 channels and typing in a channel number returns a "no signal" message.

    I opened it up and...
