Found a good video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYHPKxijz1A

This is very probably the issue I have, bad connection of flex cables. Thanks Youtube!Re: Sceptre X46BV-1080P picture issu...hanks Youtube!Re: Sceptre X46BV-1080P picture issue

  • Re: Sceptre X322BV-HD*WXC100 no picture and no sound

Heating a board at 200F won't melt solder, however it would result in some, albeit small, degree of thermal expansion between board and components, and perhaps, maybe, this could improve a borderline/intermittent connection, but probably only temporarily, so I'd expect the problem to return at some point, but who knows! • Sceptre X46BV-1080P picture issue

My 5 year old TV has been having picture issues in which primarily one side becomes fairly dark while the other side is fine. It's kind of intermittent, and can almost always be fixed by tapping on the back of the TV. Two picture photos attached, first one shows left side dark while right side is ok. Second one shows a little different issue where there seems to be horizontal bars of differing darkness. This is less frequent but does show up from time to time, but in either case tapping takes care of the problem.

So far all I've done is open up and inspect the main control board...

  • Re: Sceptre X9G-Komodo II

I have the Sceptre X7G Komodo II, was acting intermittent, sometimes would turn on (after playing with it, power cycling, pushing on/off switch, etc), but other times playing with it didn't work (I usually gave up after 5 minutes of fiddling). Anyway, after reading posts here I opened her up and noticed one domed 330uF/16V cap and the big 100uF/400V cap was leaking his guts out the + pin (you can see both in the attached photo). Replaced the 300uF (and four others for good measure, 2 x 1200uF/10V and 2 x 470uF/25V), but that didn't solve the problem, still...

  • Re: Dell Power Supply NPS-250KB B

I gave that a try and it worked just fine. I guess that means it had a chance to power down normally and do whatever it is it needs to do to prepare for the next power up. At this point my only guess is that during a power failure, the standby +5V part of the power supply, which should always be on when AC is applied, is, for some reason, not turning back on when AC is reapplied. I believe it's the +5V standby that powers the PC ON/OFF power button, so without that the PC has no idea the power button was pressed....

  • Re: Dell Power Supply NPS-250KB B

Thanks ben7. If I turn off my PC normally (through Windows), it always turns back on without a problem, however twice I've had the power fail momentarily and when I went to turn it back on it did nothing, even after sitting for 10 minutes or so. So I suspect when I do a normal power down the power supply has some sequence of events it follows, perhaps discharging or powering down in some fashion, that isn't getting done when I suddenly lose power. So I guess the issue here is it works fine in normal operation, but has trouble rebooting after a power...

  • Dell Power Supply NPS-250KB B

For the above mentioned power supply, I've had issues where the power supply will not restart after a power outage. Both times I removed the power supply and examined it looking for any damaged parts like a blown fuse, or caps, etc, but found nothing. Then did some live probing, had AC where expected and rectified high voltage (doubled) DC in some places, but w/o a schematic that's about all I could do, nothing thorough. Anyway, despite having some AC and the high voltage DC, it had none of the lower voltages (+12, +/-5, etc). So I'm wondering if there's something that isn't getting RESET properly...
