Re: Recommend me a MultiMeter
True but if your asking about multimeter's most likely you don't know that much about soldering irons either. Just my 2 cents and I did say Fluke 16 mulitimeter....

Re: Finally got the supermicro running
I seriously doubt that Roswill is pushing anywhere near 500 watts. You can get a PC Power and Cooling 750 watt for 89.00 on newegg. Over the years I have tried many power supplies and since I went to PC Power & Cooling a couple of years ago I refuse to buy anything else. I have never had a single power supply problem since I started using them.

Re: EPoX 4PCA3I fixed
It wasn't that hard to do. You must have the right soldering iron and practice on a scrap board. The hardest part is getting the caps off and clearing the holes. Once you do it a few times its pretty easy actually. PCB's can take a lot of abuse before they "die" they are not as fragile as everyone thinks. It does take some practice though. I got caps from ebay but this would be a good place to get them all at one time. Read the how to's and good luck. All the caps cost me less than $15.

Re: Replace small caps?
Motherboard soldering isn't that hard. You need the right tools. I use a Weller WTCPT station with a 2.3mm 700 degree blade tip. Use 60/40 solder in the smallest diameter you can find. The hardest thing is clearing the holes off old solder without damaging the board. The biggest mistake people make is using an iron that doesn't get hot enough fast enough and can't hold the heat. You want to heat the joint hot and fast but not overcook the board. It should take no longer than 3 seconds to remove the cap and no longer than 3 seconds to resolder the new cap....

Re: EPoX 4PCA3I fixed
I have an Epox EP-4PCA3+ that I recapped. Replaced all the 1000uf and up caps. Several GSC 1000uf 6.3v caps were swollen. Replaced everything with Rubycon. The board had been having random hard freezes. Now its rock stable. A very very good motherboard. My board had Hermei 2200uf 16v input caps. Sanyo 3300uf 6.3v VRM caps and a bunch of GSC 1000uf 6.3v caps. Some GSC caps were swollen, before recapping voltages were all over the place and random hard freezing. Now the voltages are rock stable and board is rock stable. The hardest part was clearing the holes....

Re: gettin a new psu, what to get?
I only buy PC Power & Cooling PSU. Never had a problem with them. Newegg has some good prices on them and if you watch you can catch them with rebates that make them pretty cheap. Todd
