Re: Power-Up Tutorial for Dead Motherboards
There are not too much information in english about repairing motherboard.
However, there are many in Chinese websites. Such as
http://www.91xiubbs.com/forum-84-1.html
There are also some chinese websites hosting repair video clip, but again it is in Chinese.
I don't know much about Russian and German, you have to check them.
there are lot of things to check if there are no POST, such as crystal, PWM, mosfet, southbridge, northbridge, I/O. It is not that...Last edited by supersabre; 04-25-2008, 12:12 PM.

Re: HP L1702 goes on and off
The power board is exactly the same as my bad Hp1702. Before i replace the bad light and whole panel,I test every capxon with esr meter. All are good(0.04~0.08), so i don't think the cap is bad.
If you flash a beam of light on the screen and you can see picture on it, then 99% is the faulty backlight.

Re: HP L1702 goes on and off
I have the same monitor with the same kind of problem.
The backlights are very marginal, sometimes it works for hours but flickering constantly. And then after a while, the backlight shut down but still has green power led.
I pull the a lcd panel from another 17 monitor, and it works flawlessly(turn it on for 5 days).
If you can find the same panel, then it is fine.
Otherwise, forget about of replacing the backlight. The screen is closely packed with the backlight, it is very difficult to take it apart without damaging...

why the cap is not on the datasheet??? Fake???
I always see Hermei brand LE series capacitors that fail in the power supply.
They are 10x15mm 16v 1000uF.
I check the datasheet
but i don't see 16v 1000uF cap with 10x15mm .
The LE series has only 10x21mm for 16v 1000uf.
Question. Is the cap fake? Or Is the datasheet a joke?
what 's real voltage and capacitance for this cap?Last edited by supersabre; 09-15-2007, 11:38 PM.

Increase the capacitance of smoothing capacitor after rectifier
I have a vcr that keeps blowing up the capacitor after about 2 years.
The cap is SAM YOUNG KXL 16v 1000uf. The cap is identical to chemicon, same vent, same "v" marking on the bottom between the leads.
My friend has the same vcr but with 10v 1000uf. And the cap keeps blowing up after few years. After replacing the diode and cap with chemicon KY , the capacitor is still running very hot.
I talked to my repair guy at the service center. He said he saw the same thing for this model.
The capacitor is responsible for smoothing 5.8v.(see...Last edited by supersabre; 09-14-2007, 10:21 AM.

Diode test,N channel mosfet replacement
My LCD inverter keeps shutting down after being switch on for 2-3 second.
I swap everything(screen, button, video board, power supply) with a good monitor, and it is still the same
There are 2 mosfets that drives the 2 transformers.
The voltage on the mosfet's drain is normal (Compare with the good one)for 1 second and then it jumps to 17V. then backlight is off
I check the mosfet which is a AOD 444, N channel, 60V,12A.

Re: Busta Cap In My Dvd Recorder?
Check the voltage of each rail,(look at the the marking at the power board connector, it should say what voltage each wire is supposed to have).
+/- 5 percent is good.
I think the tiny white ribbon cable that connects the laser does not have a good contact. Remove the ribbon cable, clean it with alcohol , and then reinsert it back and fourth.
That is what i do to repair my 3-year old cyberhome that refuses to read disc.

Desolder CPU socket and tools???
Last week i found 7 dual socket 370 (4 are abit vp6,3 are supermicro)motherboards in the dumpster.
However the lugs for the socket are all broken, so i can't mount the heatsink on them.
I have lot of junk socket 370 mobo with good sockets.
i have desoldered ps2 port, usb port, vga port, capacitors before, but i don't have experience in desoldering tiny pins for the socket.
Question: What is the best tool for desoldering cpu socket?

Re: internal LCD power supply,Schottky Rectifier substitute question
I did not replace the caps since they all rubycon, the esr are also good for them.
I replace almost everything except the output Schottky Rectifier and caps. Rectifier (dual diodes)passes the ohm tester, but the 12V output to the video board is very unstable(voltage jump up and down)
What are the important parameters when replacing the Rectifier? voltage? Amp?

internal LCD power supply,Schottky Rectifier substitute question
I just received a 17 inches lcd from my friend
,but it keeps on/off, the green led keeps blinking on and off.
I bypass the internal power supply and power the lcd up using an
external power supply and the lcd works great.
If the internal power have no load(not connected to video board), the
12V output is stable.
But once it connected, the voltage keeps jumping up and down
I suspect the Schottky Rectifier is bad, since i replace almost everything in the secondary
The Schottky Rectifier is 100V , 10A, mbr10100ct,Dual...

replace intel 865glc 6.3V 820 cap 8mm with 1200uF ???
I have an intel 865 glc with lot of bulging nichicon hn(oragnge marking).
The bad caps are all 8mm. tight spacing restricts the diameter of the caps and only 8mm will fit.
I have hard time of finding the best substitute for it.
I check digikey.com, but they don't have 8mm for 6.3v 820uf and 1000uf.
They have 8mm panasonic fm 1200uf 6.3v .
Question: Is it ok to replace 6.3 820uf with 6.3 1200uF panasonic fm series?

Gigabyte 8IRX replaced bad cap, but won't turn on
I replaced all the choyo caps on the Gigabyte 8IRX motherboard, but the motherboard won't start at all.
I press the power switch, clear the cmos and remove the battery, replace power supply, cpu and ram, remove the board from the case and put it on the thick yellow pages phone book. Still the motherboard won't start at all(fan is idle, power supply is idel, nothing move, no led )
Any suggestion of what electronics parts should i probe?Last edited by supersabre; 04-09-2007, 12:10 AM.

Jetway bad cap and class settlement?
I have a P4 Jetway mobo with many bad, bulging caps. it is manfactured in 2002.
According to http://www.jetwaysettlement.com, i have to submit the claim form in order to qualify.
Do i need the invoice for the board?
Have anyone try the claim from?
Does it work?
How long does the whole process take?https://I have a P4 Jetway mobo with...nvoice for the

MSI 6309, 470uF capacitor location???
Hi, i am in the process of recapping MSI 6309 ver2.1 mobo. The board have whole bunch of bad cap.
I removed all of the 1000uf and 470 uf cap. THere are 3 caps with 470uf and 6 caps with 1000uf.
however, i can't remeber the location of one of the 470 uF. I remember there are 1 for front and 1 for rear usb. And there are still one 470uF left.
I know all versions of 6309 are similar in term of cap layout.
If anyone know where the 470uf is located on the board, please let me know.
Thanks!

Re: Dell E172fpb
I heard some of the Benq LCD has capacitor probelm. The cheap lelon cap's esr is way too high and causes all sorts of problem. Also, cold solder joint is very common in Benq.

There are some programs which fix the dead pixel. I never tried it since my lcd is good.

Re: Abit VP6 problem
To pvideo:
I have the same board, and the cap that next to the AGP exploded suddenly.
I 'm in the process of recapping, but I 'm not sure whether one of the cap connection is correct. I posted it in october, but no one seems to have the definite answer.

Can you take a look at the capacitor connection(see above link)?
