• Pn59d6500 main board question

It would appear that my Samsung PN59D6500 has that bad eeprom or nand chip (I can't remember which) issue that causes the boot loop after the splash screen. I've done the usual gamut of troubleshooting steps and can't seem to come up with any other option besides replacing the main board or having a repair service replace the defective chip.

First off, if there have been any new developments in solving the problem, I'd love to hear about it.

If not, my primary question today is if anyone knows of an alternate main board that will function in the PN59D6500. The original...

  • Re: Samsung UN55J6200. Quick question before deciding to mess with this one or not.

The backlights come on when the main is unplugged from the power supply. Are there any repair options for the main or do I have to just buy a new one?

    Thanks for the help.

  • Samsung UN55J6200. Quick question before deciding to mess with this one or not.

I picked up a Samsung UN55J6200 that stopped working after a nearby lightning strike yesterday. It's a relatively new tv, so it might be worth digging into but I have a backlog of about half a dozen to work on for friends and neighbors, so I'm trying to decide if I want to mess with this one or not.

-When plugged in, the red standby light comes on, as normal.

-Press power on either the hard key or remote, results in the red standby light going out. About a second later, the backlights flash the screen in one quick burst and go out. Then the red standby light comes...

No change when I put my heat gun on IC400.

IC604 read 1.8vdc on the big tab.

Would there be any measurements that would point me to a voltage regulator? I seem to have all the different voltages I'm supposed to.

  • Re: Which board to order?

Also, my tv has a SVC code of AUSLLHR. I found a board on Ebay that is for the same 50PA6500 but woth the SVC code of ACCLLUR from Canada.

    Are they interchangeable?

  • Which board to order?

I'm looking for a replacement main board for an LG 50PA6500-UA.

The problem is that when I looked on ShopJimmy, none of the board numbers matched up with the one on my main board. So I looked up the part number printed on the sticker on my main board and it is listed as as main board for a 50PA5500 and there doesn't seem to be any crossover. There is always the possibility that someone before me put the wrong board in there but the previous owner said it was working fine and that he hadn't done any work to it since it failed.

So, do I order the EBT61875107, that is...

  • Re: LG 50PA6500 Problem

    Update:

I found another post that had a trick for troubleshooting that I tried.

I unplugged the ribbon cable that runs from the main board to the control board and I jumpered out the 2 test points.

The display start showing a test pattern. Full white screen, full red screen, full green screen, etc.

The post where I found the tip said that this result narrow down the problem to a faulty main board.

Has anyone done any repairs to a main board before?

  • Re: LG 50PA6500 Problem

    Update:

I have 205v on VS and 55v on VA.

I checked the board that has all the pushbuttons on it (I forget what it's called) and all the buttons seem to function properly.

I've gone through all the connections and made sure everything was seated well.

The buffer boards are functioning as you'd expect. Unplug and half the screen goes black and vice versa.

Nothing I've done changes the fact that I can't turn the set off without unplugging the cord.

I don't know if that is connected...

I forgot to add that the power/standby light is solid red the entire time. no flashing at all.

  • LG 50PA6500 Problem

I picked up this LG plasma 50PA6500 with a suspected power problem. The previous owner said it would run for a few minutes and then turn itself off. Pretty typical for anyone who does this sort of thing regularly.

In actuality, when I get it home, it's doing something a bit different.

When I plug the power cord in, the set clicks once, flashes a bright screen (not white but bright backlighting) and then stays at a dim black screen, as if the backlighting is on but there is no image. The weird part is that I can't turn it off. Either with the remote or the hard button....

  • Xbone powers on for 3 seconds and then powers off.

I picked up a used original Xbox one (1540) and it's not powering on properly. It comes on with the normal sound and light, but after 3 seconds, it shuts down. The power supply appears to be working properly, so I opened up the console and cleaned it thoroughly. That made no difference. While it was apart, I noticed that the cooling fan slightly "bumped" when power first came on but it doesn't actually spin at all. I tried turning it on while manually spinning the fan with compressed air, in case there is an rpm sensor that wasn't being satisfied to keep it powered up, but no joy....

  • LG 55LX6500 Vertical bars

Trying to resurrection an LG 55LX6500. Got it to power up, but I've got a vertical bar issue.

I pulled and cleaned the 2 ribbon cables, with no change.

I made some foam rubber spacers and put them between the frame support and both sides of the ribbon cables between the screen itself and the long boards that distribute the video signal (the actual name escapes me) along the panel. Put everything back together and got no change.

Does that mean it's a bad tab bond on the display panel and ultimately a very expensive paper weight?

    This...

  • Internal component cross-compatibility

I've got various parts from boards to screens for about a dozen different tv's. They are mostly Samsung, but incude other brands and a mix of lcd, led and plasma.

I'm having a bit of difficulty finding the parts needed to complete any of them, which brought up an alternative idea that I haven't been able to find much of an answer for.

Are there parts that are used in different models and/or manufacturers, and if so, is there any sort of organized database available? As in, if I have a power supply board for a Samsung LN37A450, are there other Samsung models that...

  • Vizio e500i-b1 won't turn on

I've got no activity from the tv at all. I opened it up and I hear a faint, high pitched squeal, alternating with a click sound. Squeal, click, squeal, click........ Coming from the power board. This happens as soon as the power cord is plugged in. Pushing the power button has no effect on the noise. Weirdly, when I unplug the harness that runs from the power board to the main board the noise stops.

I checked for voltages at the plug on the power board where the main board would plug in. I get 5v, but no 12v or 24v.

    What do you think?

    Thanks.

  • Re: Samsung No Start fix.

I have 2 Sanyo's (DP42740 and DP 37647) with nearly identical no start problems. Have you seen similar component failures on the mainboard? I found good info on the Samsung problem, but very little on these Sanyo's.

  • Samsung No Start fix.

I recently had a Samsung LN46A550 that wouldn't power on. It would click with the red light flashing with no other progress.

I went to ShopJimmy to look at buying a Mainboard and came across the repair kit:

    http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bn94-01628u-main-board-component-repair-kit-for-ln46a550p3fxza.htm#

I work at an electronics repair business, so I took the mainboard in to have a better look at it.

I pulled the cap mentioned in the repair kit off to put a new one on, but the only one I had on hand that was close enough...

  • Re: Samsung Tuner issue

After reading some similar posts, I had some othjer info to try and narrow down the possible issue.

-The tuner does actually function and it acquires all the channels I would expect and even some low gain channels that I hadn't previously pulled in with other tv's.

-Some channels stay at full signal strength longer than others before dipping a few bars or dropping completely, but all the channels do it at some point.

-I left it on all night to see if it was a heat versus cold start issue with no observable change....
