Anyone had trouble with Wai Fong Co?
I ordered a number of MCZ caps from them (pcbulb.com) 3 or 4 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back or received anything. I sent out an email yesterday but no reply so far. Has anyone had trouble with them?

Re: best vp6 overclock of all time?
Forgive my lack of Intel knowledge, but what do those P3s usually run at?

Difference between Zippy series PSUs?
Is there a significant design difference between the different Zippy series PSUs that would make one better than the other for overclocking? It looks like there are at least 4 series: HG2, HP2, GSM and PSL. Sorry, I know this is more of a technical forum than a product support forum, but this is really the only place I'd ever trust an opinion on power supplies.

Re: School computers seem questionable
Volunteer to inspect them... I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Just be aware of the dangers inherent in opening a PSU casing.

Has anyone here built their own PSU?
Just as the title asks. Are quality parts readily available for this kind of project? I imagine the main problem would be designing the PCB... which begs the question, is it possible to buy pre-designed PCBs from manufacturers? What would you use if you could design your own PSU?

Re: DFI Lanparty B / Ultra Infinity (nF2)
I didn't think anyone used CPU shims anymore.Any problems after removing the LPT and serial ports?

Re: IT Certifications?
I wouldn't glance past the A+ so easily. It is an excellent starter certification because it is cheap, and will get you in the door for PC repair jobs; a good place to start.

Re: DFI Lanparty B / Ultra Infinity (nF2)
trodas, I hate to break up the party here, but these are probably revision differences, not manufacture facility differences. My Chinese board, rev AA0 uses Teapo caps as well (the mosfet models match your description, though). My Taiwanese AC0 used Teapo caps, but I can't confirm the mosfet models since it has been RMAed. I will be receiving an AD0 (unknown origin at the moment) on Tuesday directly from DFI, so I will let you know what I find.
You will also notice that later revisions of this board (AC0 and later, at least)...

Re: antivirus update fuckups
Norton has been a joke since v2003 rolled out, and McAfee's consumer products are even worse. If you want a real anti-virus suite, www.eset.com has it. You're welcome in advance.Re: antivirus update fuckups<br /> ...me in advance.Re: antivirus update fuckups

Re: $100 capacitor
So does your hand get vaporized if you accidently bridge the contacts on that one?

I don't mean to one-up you, but I've cleaned far worse than that. Anyway, when you're done cleaning it, the satisfaction is fulfilling. Can't wait for the after shots!

Is there a way to tell if polymers go bad?

Re: Cleaning Motherboards - ATTN SMOKERS!!
I just now realized two things. Why not take the BIOS chip out, and does the fan still work?

Re: Cleaning Motherboards - ATTN SMOKERS!!
The final rinse should be done with distilled water or similar, because any spots where tap water will sit and air dry will leave mineral deposits on the board, some of which are electrically conductive and/or corrosive to exposed leads (iron being the most common, as it will cause the contacts to rust)....

Re: DFI LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR Venus
It seems that DFI has realized the overkill attained with the Venus, and will be releasing the AM2 LanParty (when AM2 rolls out), seen below, with polymers only in places they might be needed:

Epox appears to be following suit, as well as ASUS, as seen on Page 2 of that article, if these test boards are a good indication.Re: DFI LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR Venus...l be releasing

Re: When should OSCON caps be used?
How much smaller are the OSCON caps? Let's say there's a heatsink interference with the six Teapo 3300uF 6.3V on the Epox board due to their height. Would OSCONs cut their height in half? One-third? Hardly at all?

Re: Post your bad experiences with Antec power supplies here!
I should also mention (I can't edit a post more than once?) that the above PSU was used on a power conditioner for its first few months of life (Furman PL-Plus) and then moved to a UPS (APC Back-UPS ES 725) until it was replaced with an Antec NeoPower 480. I honestly don't know how the thing could have killed itself.
In retrospect, I have a 5 year old or so Sato (I think) LPD2-300WW that has one barely bulging 1000u 10v Jun Fu, and this PSU has been through hell with all the power fluctuations in this building...
