• Re: Samsung LN46A550 Power Cycling

Picked up a LN40A550 that had bad Power supply caps, replaced them been using the TV for probably over a year. Started to do the start up cycling. checked power supply and replaced any other caps that might be bad. Didnt help, still starts up displays channel and station identity then after a minute or so it restarts.

I think I have tried every suggestion in this thread.

Purchased new Tantalum caps Kemet brand low esr and the IC's MP2368DN replaced all four items. Still cycles.

Tested off board the original...

• Sony KDL-55BX520 powers on to green light but no boot

I have not been able to find a service manual for this TV anywhere on the internet, neither free sites or for pay. It just doesnt seem to exist.

I came across this video from Coppell TV that shows how to diagnose and repair the power supply APS-311 1-885-143-11.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ziLm_yPUQI&t=5s

I checked the pin voltages and they seem fine. STDBY was 3.5 and the 13V pins were 12.8. I didnt read the 400V capacitor yet because I wasnt sure the proper procedure. Whether between the capacitor legs or from the positive of...

• Re: LG 55LV5500-UA.AUSYLJR - Does not turn on, no sound, no picture

My LG 55LW5600 UA. AUSYLJR problem is exactly like yours.
Back lights can be jumpered to forced on fine.
TCON fuse is fine.
The front panel touch sensitive power buttons works fine and turns on the power and turns from red to white but no backlight and no booting.
I figured the IC601 or IC602 eeproms were hosed. But I also noticed the IC reset tactile momentary switch above the service port and figured I would reset them and see what happened and the back lights would come on as long...

• Re: Vizio P502ui-B1e stuck in boot cycle

Thanks for the reply. When I search for the eeprom I get references to the non "e" version of this TV (P502ui-B1). When I asked Shop jimmy if the same eeprom would work on either TV if the motherboard is the same and they said they couldn't help me. Does anyone know if the flashed eeprom is compatible with both versions?
Thanks.

• Vizio P502ui-B1e stuck in boot cycle

I have a Vizio P502ui-B1e that will power up to display the V logo on the screen and the indicator light in the lower left corner fades down like it is supposed to but never completes. Eventually the back light will turn off and it restarts itself and the cycle continues.

Remote control only has effect to turn on the TV if it has been unplugged. But if it is in its cycling pattern has no effect and cannot turn it off. Although I can push the VIA button and it seems to send the TV into the restart mode immediately.

Visually inspecting the main board the tuners coaxial...

• Re: JVC EM48FTR turns on quick but image takes time

OK some quick research shows the HDCP is coming from the Roku stick. Problem solved.

• Re: JVC EM48FTR turns on quick but image takes time

Was able to get the no image at start up again while the TV was down and the back was open. I pushed on the ICs and nothing happened until I pushed on the LVDS cable connection on the tcon board then the image popped back on and was fine.

So I opened the chassis some more to get to the board. No metal plates covering this TCON just a plastic section that holds the Speakers mounts and the has the mount for the Stand to screw into. The stand mounting is really chintzy and I suspect there is a lot of chassis flex....

• Re: JVC EM48FTR turns on quick but image takes time

As luck would have it after putting the set back together and connecting everything up and with in a day it started doing the slow turn on and sometimes the picture would cut out. Back light and sound and controls all keep working just the picture.

So I pulled it back down and opened it up and sure enough the screen comes on quickly when turned on. But then I thought about the Roku stick this TV came with that I leave in the MHL HDMI port. I plugged it back in and the Image did the cut out thing. I tried the inverted...

I put the set back together to try that trick and for now at least the picture comes on quickly, before I had a chance try the freeze. No idea what cured it or if it will stay that way but for now it's good. I'll try the freezing if it happens again.
Thanks

• JVC EM48FTR turns on quick but image takes time

I have a JVC (Amtran) EM48FTR that is starting to take a while for the picture to show after turning on the set.

The unit seems to power on fine and normal with sound and ability to change channels, inputs etc. but no immediate picture. After a few minutes there might be a flash or two of a garbled line and it shows image and looks great. The delay of image seems to be getting longer and longer.

I opened up the back and the caps on power supply and main board look fine. The power supply has some Sam yeong and a rubycon while the main board has a mix of TK and Jamicon....

• Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello all.
My name is Steve and I am a fix-a-holic. It started when cleaning out my house and I had to decide whether to toss or fix a Kenwood stereo I bought back in high school. I really liked the stereo when it worked so I put $15 down on a schematic off ebay. A few tweaks and adjustments and it now works fine and I became hooked.

I have mostly been a Mac user being in the graphics and photo industry. My first new purchased computer was a Power Mac 8100/80. I fished a broken Color Mac II out of the...
