Can could someone tell me what these arrows/black triangles mean when they point to a contact. They are on the foil side of a PCb powerboard. I have included a photo with a few on.
many thanks

thanks thats good information to know and really helps me out.

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
I am a bit confused, if that was the case why are the lines in and out of the bridge not Orange also, as surely that is a major power carrying line. I am not disagreeing with what you state, just trying to understand in more detail.

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
Can someone please advise me of why the lines on this schematic are traced in orange. I know it is probably fairly intuitive and simple but your help would be appreciated....

Re: Which Isolating Transformer should I use
Thanks to you both, i do plan on being very careful, however I just want to stack the odds in my favor. Once I fix the thing I'll make sure I post an a-z on my progress.

Which Isolating Transformer should I use
I want to do some testing with my scope on the primary side of a switch mode power supply (from a plasma) but i have been advised that i should use an Isolating Transformer. My reason for using one is to cut down on the risk of me getting an electric shock. I already have a RCD fitted to the socket.
Would one of those small yellow ones that you see workmen using be sufficient. Something like this BBH Saftey Isolating Transformer 240 Volt - 240 Volt.
A proper description is here

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
thanks Tom, I made a mistake reading the schematic, i know about the EMI filters its the L608 I really needed to know about. Sorry for the mistake.

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
I am struggling to understand what this component does. It is on the power board of the above Plasma and is designated
L608
thanks if you can help me out, as I cannot find it on the schematic...

Still trying to fix my Plasma. Could someone please tell me what these components are and what they do. The schematic is from the powerboard of the above Plasma and I am interested in L601 and L602
thanks....

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
I have been doing a bit of research and I am advised that if I am working on a power supply I should be using an isolation transformer - but I am having problems finding exactly what I should be using.
Can anyone advise on what type and where to get one from?

Thanks I'll keeping looking, and change that cap anyway.
Could take me a few months to test every piece on the board -
I was thinking of doing all the caps first
then the transformers
would anyone disagree, are parts more suspect than others??

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
Hi,
I am measuring out of circuit. I know the value should be 10,000pf and not 5400 but is it far enough out to cause such a major problem.
this is the capacitor

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
Hi - no fuses are fine, which is a shame. the markings are from a marker pen, and do seem to be from the factory.
I was looking at a small capacitor and it reads
0.01 Uf on the casing but tests at 5400 pf
is that an acceptable range?

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
Hi thanks for your reply.
i did go through the fault finding and I kept ending up with advice on either to change the power or the D board.
they were a little inconclusive because even though the service manual is for my specific Plasma (and a few other models) there is a slight difference in the models and the fault finding did not 100% adjust for this.
I think it is either the p or D board - its where to go from there. Just replacing either of them seems to be giving up and probably more expensive...

Re: Panasonic Th 50PX70B 12 Blinks
I have tested the voltages on the power board and I have attached a schematic of what the voltages should be. Does this shed any light on the cause.
I will take the board off unless someone says otherwise and test all the caps.
thanks for your time.

pin 10 has 5v with the AC cord plugged in
when power button pressed -
pin 10 and Pin 8 have 3.5v

nothing until power button pressed then
pin 5 has 5v
pin 7 has 3.2 v
