• Re: Repairing Alesis M1 Active mk2 Monitor Speakers

Where is 3842? I don't know anything about relocating capacitors, but I am always up to learn more!...

    I fixed my right speaker!

After reading through this thread and watching some YouTube videos, I found out that C8 was the culprit in the majority of cases. At first, I thought that wasn't my issue, because I was expecting to see a blown, bulging, or leaky capacitor. I didn't realize it looked normal but was completely dried and out dead from the resistor next to it!

I replaced the Jun Fu 220 uF 35v with a Rubycon 220 uF 50v. I'm no expert in capacitors, so I went with the comments...

  • Re: Repairing Alesis M1 Active mk2 Monitor Speakers

Greetings all! It's been 9 years since I lasted post on the forum. Where does the time go???

I have had these speakers for quite a few years now and have been very happy with them. About 6 months ago, the right speaker started making some weird buzzing and glitchy noises when idle. It would happen intermittently, but then it started happening more and more. Then one day, the sound just stopped working.

Trying to diagnose the issue, I swapped the 1/4-inch cable and power cable, with known, working...

  • Re: Samsung Syncmaster T220 - bad caps?

The monitor has just been sitting on my table for months.

I went to an Electronic store about a 1 hour drive and they don't even carry the right size capacitors. So I'd have to get them online.

I tried to look local for a power board since most of you said that's the problem, but no luck.

So I am not really sure what to do now. I don't feel comfortable taking apart my only working monitor.

Is there a place online I could find a power board? I still have to fix the power button wires I br...

I have the exact same monitor but if like I said... If I damage this one, I don't have the money to buy a brand new one.

I already broke the cable that connects to the power button. So I can't even turn it on if I put it back together.

I tried to take good screenshots but it doesn't really show it that bad.

There were a lot of visible pixels and bright hues of green and pink. In the center it was bad.

And I assume there is nothing that can be done about that?

Hi guys it's me again. I haven't been here in 2 months. I was busy so I was not able to work on the project here.

Unfortunately there are no stores around me that carry capacitors. I thought there were, but Radioshack closed a long time ago. I tried The Source, which is quite the drive away, and they carried a very small selection.

Can anyone recommend a cheap online site that will ship to Canada?

I would love to at least try to get this monitor working. It's in pieces just collecting dust.

well I don't have a solder gun anymore I had to give it back.

Also as you can see in the picture I burned the insulation off the wires so I could use them.

Do they have to be insulated.

Is it possible if I just leave the existing wire in the terminal, take the wire and just crush it together in the crimp.

    Will I get a signal?

Thanks but did you see my picture?

The plastic insulation is removed. The first crimp is apart, but there is wire going under another one or looks like it. that one doesn't seem to be removed.

    so what are my options?

still cannot get this wire out.

Where do I get this pin?

is this some special pin? I can get it open but it still will not come out.

The top one open by pushing the bottom does not open.

Also how am I going to test the voltage regulators with the monitor on? The PCB faces down at the screen. So the voltage regulars are not accessible when it's all put back together.

I also burnt the insulation off the wires because using a knife was impossible.

I have no clue what I am doing. The only thing I have been successful at is burning my finger with the solder iron.

The wires are so tiny I cannot twist them together.

the broken wire is lodged in this metal piece so there is not even enough to twist.

anyone? Just trying to get these out is hard and the wires are so small. Can I solder it and the plastic insulation around it? my hands shake really bad trying to do this.

can't seem to edit posts on this forum.

    here are 2 pictures.

the wire is really stuck in the little metal part I can't push it out. I don't want to break the metal thing then I am really screwed.

am I able to use this solder shown in the other picture and just solder the wires back together? It should be able to melt through the plastic coating I would think.

well that's not good I didn't think the screen had to be on to test them. Just the pcb.
can I just leave the broken piece of wire inside and solder it back together?

It has some plastic coating around it and I cannot pull it out.

I don't feel comfortable taking apart my only working monitor. I have no money if anything breaks. I can spend a few bucks here to replace capacitors but not $200 for a new monitor.

Can I not test the voltage regulators without redoing this wires?

Those wires are only for turning the monitor on.

I just borrowed a multimeter today. So I should test the voltage regulator.

Do I need the board plugged in the wall the whole time or just for a minute?

Lumberjack777 did you look at my pictures? What is your advice?

Also I need to fix this wire or I won't be able to to turn it on.

There are still pieces of the wire in the plastic.

    thank you for your response.

Here is the pcb. The capacitors look fine to me but I am no expert. I see no bulge or leaking. Just some marks that look like felt pen on the top.

The bright is just my camera flash.
