Re: AMW M177TD switches off after a while
It's a bit hard to tell from the photo as I can't quite get close enough, but is the casing damaged at all on the transistor marked Q40 on the underside of the board ? If so it's where I'd be looking for a shorted or open circuit device which would certainly cause the backlight inverter to trip out.
It may just be my dodgy eyesight ;-)

Re: Dell 2407WFPb Monitor - Bad Cap
I had this problem with my 2407 - in my case I swapped the signals pcb in the end and it has been fine since <touches wood quickly>
I tried recapping the pcb before I replaced it but there was no change in behaviour.

Re: Samsung 2253BW - 2 Sec to Black issue
That's an easy swap really. RTech's suggestion of adding more solder first is a good one.
Cut he pins close to the chip with a sharp knife first. You only need to remove one pin at a time then and there's less chance of lifting a track with too much heat.
Tack each corner pin down of the new chip and then apply liquid no clean flux fluid and drag solder across the pins. If any pins are bridged with solder accidentally, simply apply more liquid flux and drag a clean soldering bit over the pins and the excess solder...

Re: D-Link DGS-1016D won't turn on
I bought six of these off Ebay a while back, sold as faulty - all 6 working fine after a cap change on the psu card and a new cooling fan :-)

Re: Dell 3008wfp faulty power supply
Look on Ebay for 'Spudgers' - people generally use these things for stripping down IPhones to swap the digitiser when it get broken.
Great for opening monitor cases. I have a couple of the stainless steel spatula shaped types.

Re: Need guide to make VGA wire for Toshiba LCD Display (LTA084C271F)
There's an LED backlight driver board here from the same seller:

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
Shot in the dark....
Does the screen have an LED backlight ? (can't see any inverter transformers so it would suggest so)
If so how about a problem with the string of LED's or their wiring within the panel, causing an excessive drain on the supply rail with a resulting shutdown and SOS codes ? I've seen LED's fail partially and intermittently so that they go a bit dim but draw more current. Behind a diffuser you wouldn't necessarily be able to make out a small difference in brightness between LED's....

Re: Need guide to make VGA wire for Toshiba LCD Display (LTA084C271F)
Hi,
Google is your friend :-) Here's a starting point that has a number of inexpensive boards, looks like they are China based:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/njytouch/LCD-controller-board-kits-DIY-/_i.html?_fsub=2982811018
I should say that I can't specifically recommend any particular type as this isn't a project that I've looked at previously. You may need to get creative with the wiring as sockets may not be the same type that the display is expecting but with the...

Re: BenQ G2420HD white screen
That's the main board rather than the TCON.
You'll probably find the TCON hiding under a metal screening cover on the back of the LCD panel - it'll be where that big flat ribbon cable is connecting to.

Re: BenQ 24 Monitor FP241W - PSU Cap is dead
From the photographs I'd swear that we're looking at the insides of a Dell 2407 - the power supply and inverter boards look identical visually.
There's a long thread on the Dell 2407 in these forums, might be worth a look ?

Re: LG 47LH55 Pictures problem
I'd echo what tom66 has said about intermittently shorting multilayer smd capacitors. I've seen quite a few examples of this on Seimens AC motor drives - they might look perfect visually but take a soldering to one end and half the cap drops off !

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello all :-)
Name's Robin, started in electronics at around 8yrs old. Went 'pro' at 18 and have had a good living and much enjoyment so far, though these days I seem to spend more time trying to figure out someone else's buggy pc software for the day job !
Been lurking for a while - there's clearly some clever / experienced people here, hope I can be of help too.
Cheers
Robin
