  • Re: Sony KDL-40EX403 blinking LEDs.

Thanks for the swift response Tom66. Yeah I was somewhat dubious about the idea that 32" board would suffice although - at least insofar as Toshiba's go - I expected it to at least light up.

In your experience my friend, would you be inclined to think this was a main board issue in the first place? Just want to be sure I am barking up the right tree here.

  • Sony KDL-40EX403 blinking LEDs.

Hi guys, hope you can help.

I have a Sony KDL-40EX403 which, when it came to me, would just switch from red standby light to green on light (solid). Since the screen didn't light up but the LEDs indicated it was on, I naturally assumed the problem was with the inverter which I replaced - twice before deciding the chances of receiving two faulty inverters from the same seller were slim enough to try something else.

I replaced the main board (1-881-636-23) with one that I thought would be compatible from a KDL-40EX503. But when I put that board in I just got 5 blinking...

  • Re: Sony 32s3000 5 blinks bad eeprom replaced board still 5 blinks

    Hi Dave.

I'm not as experienced or knowledgeable as most others here but thought I would try to help since no-one else has answered yet and I have a notion.

5 blinks on this model indicates a communication problem between your T-con panel and the MT5388 chip on the main board. I assume that's the eeprom you replaced. So may in fact be on either end of that transfer.

Conclusion: You may want to look at your T-con board instead of your main board. These are...

Obviously, I concur with Tom66. The uf is the most important number - don't change it!

  • Re: toshiba regza no picture

I must be bored, I'm reading historical threads LOL.

Sorry to drag this from the depths guys but if anybody has this problem after replacing a main board in an AV555 or similar (with a board from a different size) drop me a message.

I've fixed more of these Toshiba Regza's than I care to mention and, more importantly, I have a Kel Tool! Bought it for a tenner from someone who didn't know what they had. Recently I bought a 32AV555 for 25 quid because it had a 42AV555 main board in it. I pulled out my Kel Tool and...

  • Re: LCD Flex Foil Repair - Is it possible?

    Thanks for the response Tom66.

Hm, the flex ICs, didn't even think of that.

I did also have the thought that it might clear up when it dried out since the customer said the lines were more pronounced and numerous and tightly packed when it first happened and since then they have faded to the point that you can see the picture through and between them. Only it doesn't seem to be getting any better for a while and I'm sure it must be bone dry by now which is why I thought of the ACF.

  • LCD Flex Foil Repair - Is it possible?

Hi. New here - first thread, second post.

So I go to fix this TV for a customer - a Samsung LE40C750 - beautiful machine. 3D 1080p, with all the bells and whistles. It has faint vertical coloured lines down the right hand side so I figure bad T-con or dirty contact on the ribbon cables connecting the T-con to the screen drivers. Wrong on both counts.

Then the customer shares with me that they had cleaned the screen with windolene - spraying the liquid straight onto the screen and scrubbing it vigorously with a cloth (some people shouldn't be allowed to buy TVs)....

  • Re: Samsung PN50C540 Plasma Red thin line from top to bottom of the display, please h

It's not necessarily a faulty panel. I have fixed many TVs with the same problem - I think they were all LCDs but I can see how the same principle would apply to plasmas.

I'm not really familiar with your model (in truth I kind of specialise in LCDs so if anything I say sounds stupid or inapplicable I do apologise).

The LCD TVs I repaired that had single coloured vertical lines, it was simply a case of cleaning the connectors on the ribbon cables that...
