Re: Vizio E500i-B1 PSB question
RJ,
Thanks so much for the reply and that was the exact issue. I will heed your advice on the next one, so do you recommend buying the kits and only replacing what is bad or just sourcing out individual components? Thanks again for the advice!

Vizio E500i-B1 PSB question
Hey forum! I offered to fix a set for a friend and this set has the Vizio board ADTVD3613XA6 power board in it. After some research found it was a set with common PSB board issues. Ordered a component repair kit from ShopJimmy and I have done quite a few but after everything was finished with this one I have no 5VSB on the board. Checked and rechecked all solder points. I had 5VSB on it before I started, has anyone encountered this before? Can someone point me in the right direction for troubleshooting? Thanks!

Samsung Plasma PN51-D6500 Restarting
Greeting all! Thankfully I have not needed to post any questions to the forum as reading through the guides have sustained my repairs for about the last year (not many)....until now. This TV was brought to me in the box, all plastic still attached. Customer received this as a gift, and was supposedly new. The TV powers on fine, and plays great for about 1 min and 19 seconds and then restarts. If I try to open the SmartHub the TV will display the starting wheel and then the whole set restarts. All voltages are where they should be including Va, Ve and such. No cold solder joints that I can tell...

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
Would you happen to have a Zsus board also? Pretty hard to find, if so get me a price for that and those buffer boards please.

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
No, but I got it. The Zsus board was bringing down the voltage, after it was disconnected voltage jumped up on power supply to 55.1. Helps having two of the exact TV's here, swapped out the Zsus board with other set and plays perfectly. Going to let it run for a bit to make sure no other issues.

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
Hello Shinju! I received the other 60" today. After taking it apart checked some of the basics, buffers seem ok. My Vs voltage was dead on, but the Va voltage was about 52.6 and supposed to be 55. I tried the adjustment but would not adjust past 52.8, would go down but not up. Should I be checking mosfets, caps and resistors on the power board?

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
That sounds great, I will wait until I get the other 60" tomorrow as I may want to buy the YSUS board too if you are thinking of selling that. If so come up with a package price for me!

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
Went through the panel with some magnifying glasses and all looked OK. TV was on, wife heard a small pop sound and smelled small burning so I am assuming that was the bottom buffer. I knew I should have ordered from ShopJimmy this is the third board I have gotten from eBay that was bad (for other sets). I am buying the exact same TV tomorrow for $60 with a no power issue, at least I have some good experience now. Thanks for your help!

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
In hindsight no, I just tested it and low and behold the bottom one is shorted. If I am testing correctly, I am using my Fluke 87 III Ohm setting black on one pin of the middle connector (P212) and starting at the top of the ribbon cable connector following it from top to down like a zipper with the red lead. The top connector (P201) is showing shorts on about 6 or 7 different pins. The remaining 3 ribbon cable connectors all test OK.Last edited by tom66; 02-17-2015, 05:26 PM. I forgot to mention that I have installed a new set of buffer boards, well pre-owned.

This is the pic of the damaged board I received but should work for ID purposes....

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
Shinju and Tom66 I replaced the YSUS board after receiving the first one that was destroyed. With the top buffer board installed and no cables connected to the lower board I can get a test pattern from top half of screen, although pixelated. When I connect the bottom buffer I get no picture at all. There is a burn mark on the chassis behind the lower buffer board so i would assume that is what blew and then took out the YSUS board. With the top board only attached I have -178 on my -VY and about 214.6V on my Vsc on the YSUS board. Is it possible that...

With those low voltages gentlemen, can I assume the Ysus is fried?

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
Tom that is correct, although I went a step further and removed them entirely (disconnected ribbon cables). I am familiar with the process of checking shorted buffers, which I hope these are not as I ordered both new from shopjimmy in September, but if the Ysus board is bad I guess these new buffers may have fried.

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
With the buffers pulled out of circuit the Vsc is registering 0.012V and the Vy has jumped up to about -130V. I am guessing you are talking about the small ribbon cable on the bottom going into the bottom buffer from the Ysus board?

Re: LG 60PV450 Sound No Picture
I am reading 110.6V on the VZB test points.
