Re: Presario CQ71: Yes Backlight, No Image
have you tried the external monitor without the lcd flex connected? a short in the flex may be causing the problem, also a bad lcd. if not i'd check the gpu. try a light reflow first.

Re: Gateway NV59C09u only runs off a charged battery, will not charge/power on from D
have you got a schematic? what's the mobo model #?
look for the charging IC model, find the datasheet and take measurements to see if it's getting power from adapter, test for shorts, if it isn't getting power trace back towards dc connector. there are a bunch of things before the ic that could go wrong: shorted caps, mosfets, resistors diodes transistors etc.
post more info if you have it, also post the measurements you take along the way.
good luck.

Re: HP G62-372US won't turn on.
I had a similar issue with an AMD version of the board, turned out it was the kbc controler (KB3926) but bios is also a common failure. try this schematic see if it matches your mobo:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bz6NNc5KWmryV2J4NWdfZ1hyWEk/edit?usp=sharing
according to this schem, it appears your EC bios is U2
you could build the LPT programmer

Re: HP mini 110 HP mini 210
what it means is that the cpu/gpu/bga of any kind will form little bubbles on top or bottom of the chip. it will usually make popping sounds in the process.
this can be caused by moisture, this doesnt mean its visibly wet, it could be a slight, non visible condensation from cleaning with alcohol or other solvents. they may sometimes sip through the surface of the chip and when heated, will form gases, these gases try to exit the surface and pop the chip in the process.
In my opinion the biggest reason for...

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-6845 dead
I'm not sure what lights are available in this model, no big deal right now until you are in front of the laptop.
As speedypro sugested keep the usb board off until the rest is working.
The usb problem may have shorted the +5VALW rail, which could have damaged PU2 or u46 or components around those ICs.
post your findings around these areas, I'll help when I can....

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-6845 dead
that means you have main power B+, batt+ will have power when battery is connected. if you connect the battery, do you see a charging light? test PQ16 pins 123 with battery in.
post your exact measurements and the testing point....

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-6845 dead
Laptop doesn't need to be powered on, charging circuit works all the time
if battery is installed BATT+ will have as much voltaje as the battery is providing at the moment, fully charged 12.6v, if not charged will show less. without the battery, you should read 0V on BATT+
First you are looking for VIN (adapter power) past PL1 (page46), then you should check and make sure you have B+ (main power) (PL22 page 47) if any is not present check for shorted or damaged components. start with PQ6, PQ7 then move...

Re: Acer Aspire 5750-6845 dead
Hey there, just my 2cents
Look at the voltage rails in page 3 in the schematic
first thing you need to make sure is that you have the always on voltages.
you can find out what they are looking at the S5 column
the rest of the voltages (S1 voltajes) should appear after you push the power button.
good luck with your first laptop repair, we'll try to guide you along the way, just keep posting your findings.Re: Acer Aspire 5750-6845 dead

Compaq Presario CQ56 Quanta AX2 no power
Hello all, I have this laptop that won't power on or do anything.
Using the following schematic; http://www.4shared.com/office/6ctmktH7/hp_g42_g56_g62_compaq_cq56_cq6.html
I took the following measurements:
Pq55 input=19.7v output= 28.8v
Pq58 pin 123 19.7v, pin 4 28.8v pin 5678 0v without the battery
PWRSRC 28.8V
VIN=18.7V
PU8 ISL6251A
Pin 1=5V (VDD)
Pin 2=2.1V (6251ACIN)(ACSET)
Pin 3=1.18V
Pin 8=2.39V
Pin 15=5v
Pin 19, 20 =19.74v
Pin 23=0V ACOK#

Re: Lenovo B560 fluctuating DC
Have you tested the dc adapter? I would put a load on the adapter alone (connect a 12v fan or something) and measure with volt meter to see if the voltage goes down. it should stay steady at almost the rated voltage. if voltage drops more than 1 volt try another adapter.

Re: HP 425 No power
Hi Tuomo, thanks for your reply.
I think you mean +V3A and +V5A
I have checked U519:
U519 (RT8205)
Pin 17=5V (VREG5)
Pin 16=17.97V
Pin 15=0V (ground)
Pin 14=2.0V
Pin 13=4.30v
Pin 11=0V (+V3A)
Pin19=0v
pin 20=0V (+V5A)
Pin8 3.33v (VREG3)
problem was I had no +VBAT
I also didn't have the signals KBC_PWR_ON, ADP_EN.
kb has 3.3v at vcc1
Pin 60=0v
Pin 75=0v
Pin 77=3.3v
Pin 68=3.05v...

HP 425 No power
Hello fellow members, here I am again with a lappy pretty dead to my taste but it gives me the opportunity to learn a little with it.
It's an HP 425 Motherboard 6050a2364501-mb-a03
the closest schematic I could find is this http://www.4shared.com/office/3C4ITYw1/ ... 5_cq3.html
Even though it does not match 100% it's helping me id. the connections of some components but not all.
To the point, when connecting the charger to the computer, the LED on the dc connector turns on and is fixed and never goes out, with and without battery does...

Re: Acer Aspire 4520 turn on problem!!
If you know how, you should take basic measurements and post your results for better assistance.
I just repaired the same model with similar simptoms. turns out it was a problem of bad GPU joints.
if main voltages check ok try a soft reflow to the MCP67 chip. if that works you may need a good reflow or reballing to the mcp.
here's the motherboard schematic for your model.

Need HP Pavilion g6 -1c50la Schematic
Hello all:
I'm requesting your valuable assistance to locate the correct schematic for an HP Pavilion g6-1c50la laptop.
I have the following info to go by:

HP part number SPS: 649288-001
AMD Llano CPU
Chipset AMD FCH HUDSON 1127
The closest thing I could find is from QUANTA; quanta R23 and R24, both being from Pavilion G6 series, I've uploaded them here for those who may need them:

Re: Toshiba Satellite L655 (HannStar J MV-4 94V-0)
Are we looking at the correct schematic? if so where is the rest? it sounds like you need QUANTA BL7. you can get proper values from schematic.
New readings change things. measure resistance to ground on U6000 pins 3,4,10,19,24,22 post results.

Re: Toshiba Satellite L655 (HannStar J MV-4 94V-0)
I would check D6000, C6023, R6013, R6012, C6028, R6005, R6016, check for correct values, open or shorted components. also make sure L6000 is not grounded.
If all checks ok and you find no grounded areas that shouldn't be, remove U6000 and test the relevant input/output pins without the IC to rule out a damaged U6000. post your results.
