Re: 50" LG Plasma-couple of (hopefully minor) problems
I did try replace some caps on one board once and made the picture go all blocky. I have repaired 5 zsus boards since then and all are still working fine. Some were the red mist others were when the TV just clicked and didn't come on. Same parts replaced that caused both problems.

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/281287340985 is what I would get. Only 8 parts to change. The same model of TVs that don't switch on are usually the same parts that need changed.Re: 50" LG Plasma-couple of (hopeful... need changed.Re: 50" LG Plasma-couple of (hopefully minor) problems

Re: 50" LG Plasma-couple of (hopefully minor) problems
Hi there d-animator should have a spare ysus board amongst my pile of parts if you are interested, i would have to look later in the afternoon and let you know. Bought a set of boards for one once and changed all, so still got spare original boards.

Re: 50" LG Plasma-couple of (hopefully minor) problems
That's true a picture of the problem may be of help. Just the way I read it that's what I took his problem to be the red/green snow on the pic mostly only noticeable on lighter/white background. This is what I was thinking about in picture attached...

Re: 50" LG Plasma-couple of (hopefully minor) problems
I have made repairs to a few off these TV's with the red sparkles on them. I have bought a few repair kits to fix this from ebay.

This is the kit I have bought but usually ask for them without the capacitors for control board as I find that it is ok and not needing touched.
This kit also fixes a problem with the tv when...

Re: panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red
That could be possible. Did think that doing a data change would change the adjustment data and the factory preset data to that of a 42".
The board I knew about on Ebay is gone now as well. I am not having the best of times with this set.
Might have to investigate the board and see what is possible to change between the working 37" board and the faulty 42" board.

Re: panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red
Well things are not good for me.
Tried the data posted by Karl but with total sadness it has not worked.
Run a self test as per manual and said it was still 37hd. Went through the service menu and changed panel type to 42hd but it showed NG under it.
Ran the self check again and it failed, switched off and on again and it resets itself back to 37hd
Some of the settings in adjustment mode are different from that in manual but never went as far as changing them at this time. Not sure the difference it would make...

Re: panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red
Ebay can be ok for some TV's I have found. Best one's I have been able to get are LG50PS3000 with the red haze on them, usually picking them up for £80-£120. Quite an easy repair and only costing about £20. Sold a few on for £200-£250.

Re: panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red
Just a thought there tw2005, if you copied the data from your 50, could you post it on here and I could give it a try out of curiosity and see what happens. Should have asked you this earlier, doh. I have a copy of mine as it is so no problem going back the way if I had to. Or I know where I can get another board at the moment if I really had to go that way. But the guy got the whole TV for £35 with cracked screen and possibly a courier cost but now wants £40+£5 postage for each of the boards he took out of it, and on his listing he has it...

Re: panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red
Sure I tried that but did not stay as 42 when switched back on. Was a little while ago now trying to mind from memory. Not able to try it again just now. Even tried changing all the settings possible to what was shown in service manual but think it may be an unchangeable setting in eprom or something as to amount of pixel lines it shows on the screen (37" 720 lines 42" 768 lines). Then it just copies the top 48 lines on the bottom of the picture.

Re: panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red
My boards from a 37" and I've been on that bit and mine said 42NG and tried selecting it but just goes back to 37"display on switching on again. Dnt know if there was anything else needing done for it to stay that way. Been through all ye service manual and says to check other things if NG displayed. Hope to get data from board if someone could copy it to SD card and post it on here so i can try it to fix mine.

Re: panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red
Glad you got your tv going again Karl, was wondering if you could copy data from your A board now by SD card as in service manual 6.5 and post on here so I could copy to mine see if it fixes/changes my settings to a 42".
Would be greatful if you could thanks in advance.
As for your faulty A board, probably same fault as my original one, and would not know where to start a repair on it. But thanks for the offer of it.

Re: panasonic TX-P42X20B flashing red
Any one know what might need changed on the a board to repair it or where to get the data from a 42" a board to change it on my 37" a board.
Or even how to change the resolution to enable full picture.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi all, fairly new to doing electronic repairs.
Soldering irons and solder do burn.
Had a few successful repairs done to tv's, some still puzzle me and some bad fails.
Some screen changes are easy but bad memories of a laptop that went from bad to worse.
Motto is try it, if it doesn't work least you tried. Everything is a learning curve.
Will help within I can on here and will look here first when I need the help to.
