Re: Vizio VO320E - Black Screen
Yea, I tested it exactly as you described with the neutral probe on a ground screw and the positive probe on one of the voltage regulator tabs (first I attempted the output tab which gave me a 1 amp reading, then I tried the adjustment and the output tabs which gave me 0 amps and when I went back to the output again I got nothing). I should have known better, I was always taught to make current readings in series, but I was too impatient to care to set it up in series I suppose.
I have attached a close-up of the TUS2 component here....

Vizio VO320E - Black Screen
So when I got this TV it would turn on, as indicated by the orange light turning white, but I couldn't see a backlight turn on and I didn't see any image even when I shone a flashlight on it. After some research on badcaps I figured my best bet would be to test the voltage regulators. I'll try to get some better photos if anyone wants them, but for now these are the readings I got:
U5
L311
G1117
pin 1 = 1.37
pin 2 = 2.62
pin 3 = 5.00
U9
L311
G1117
pin 1 = 1.25
pin 2 = 2.49
pin 3 = 5.01

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey y'all, I found this forum in search of remedies for a Syncmaster computer monitor that flashed relentlessly like a strobe light at nightclub in Bulgaria. Ran across an easy fix by reflowing a chip and now I think I've hooked myself into a new hobby. I'm about to graduate with a BSME at NCSU and plan on heading straight back into the grind to work towards a masters in EE doing thesis work on applying new technologies to hybrid vehicles. Looking forward to corresponding more with everyone here. Thus far your past advice has...
