Re: Philips 42PFL3609S/98 Shuts down after sometime
After replacing the 470uf/10v cap on the mainboard the tv is even more difficult to turn on. This is the symptom of failure, sorry for the background noise, getting the little one to reduce the volume is not easy. https://youtu.be/gRlltDRHOVQ
Disconnected the TCON connector from the mainboard and tried to switch on the TV, still unable to on. The symptom is the same as the youtube video.
Disconnected the power to the CCFL tubes, The symptom remains the same as the youtube video.

Re: Philips 42PFL3609S/98 Shuts down after sometime
All these caps were check and found to be ok.
However, I noticed a bulging cap on the mainboard. Bad eyesight made me miss this cap the first time around. Removed it from the board and found the 470uf / 10V cap is giving me only 100uf. Replaced this cap now waiting to test it tomorrow....

Philips 42PFL3609S/98 Shuts down after sometime
Hi.
I have a Philips 42PFL3609S/98 TV that shuts down after some time. If the TV is not power overnight and is powered on in the morning then it will last longer sometimes up to 2 hours. After the first shutdown, it will be more difficult to switch it on again. It would be easier to restore power if I remove the AC cord and plug it back again.
Replacing capacitors C805 and C804 didn't solve the problem but made the running time last slightly longer. The old capacitors were giving me a reading of 920 uf. C840 and C840A are giving out a reading of 72uf and were not replaced....

Sony KLV-32S550A
Hi.
I have this Sony 32" LCD tv with a faulty polarizer. Picture attached.
Came across a repair shop that is able to replace the polarizer but the cost of repair is high.
Would like to know if there is a way to replace the polarizer myself.
Been looking on the net, but am unable to find the replacement method nor the replacement polarizer.
Any help on how to replace the polarizer or where to find the part would be greatly appreciated....

Toshiba 32AV700E display distorted
Hi,
I have the above mentioned 32" LCD mode tv with a distorted image as in the attachment?
Would like to know what is the most likely cause of the distorted image?
TCON board or LCD panel or other components or PC board?
What else I can do to troubleshoot this defect?
Thank you in advance for your expertise....

Samsung LA32S81B distorted screen
Hi.
I have this Samsung TV with the distorted screen as in the attachment.
Apart from the distortion when the TV is off there is a kind of burn mark at the edge of the LCD display when it is on.
Besides this two issues there is no other problem with the tv.
Is there anything I can do to repair this distortion?
Thank you in advance....

Re: Samsung LA22A350C1, unable to power up
The resistance reading on pin 1 (top most pin as viewed in the picture) is around 1 Mega ohm.
My apologies on the earlies posting, in which the voltage reading of IC 108 is wrong. Could not access the bottom side of the mainboard properly. The correct reading on the tab of IC 108, AP1117 is 2.73 volts with respect to ground.
The voltage I'm getting at B1.25VD point is 2.73 volts. Looks like IC 108, AP1117 is faulty?...

Re: Samsung LA22A350C1, unable to power up
Not really sure what the first few wordings are on the IC.
Two pins does not have a voltage as in the second edited picture....

Re: Samsung LA22A350C1, unable to power up
It just reads DC 1117. Not sure if 'DC' is part of the part number....

Re: Samsung LA22A350C1, unable to power up
I've still not replaced this IC since it is not available locally would have to get it from ebay. The IC is a 1117, which appears to be a 3.3V regulator, the strange thing though is that I'm getting 3.3 Volts at the input of the IC.
I dismantled the switch assembly and checked the switches including the power switch which gives me a 0 to 100ohm reading. I dont have the remote control for the set, not sure if the remote control would solve the problem.
Tried to source for the mainboard part...

Re: Samsung 932bplus, 2 sec to blank?
Just want to update you guys. I received the new inverter transformer from ebay and soldered it onto the PCB. Plugged in the monitor and the monitor is now back to life without any problems.
Thanks a million for your guidance and help.

Re: Samsung LA22A350C1, unable to power up
I've tried what you suggested but with no change. The TV would still not come out of standby nor did the backlights illuminate.
I've check though the main board's fuses and all of them seems to be intact.
I did notice a crack in the IC 108, 1117 regulator IC, as in the attachment. This component seems to have been replaced. Will check or replace this IC.
Do you guys suspect the mainboard or power supply board to be faulty?...Last edited by vernond; 03-26-2013, 07:46 AM.

Re: Samsung LA22A350C1, unable to power up
I think you are refering to R101 instead of R10. Im getting a reading of 51ohms across this resistor which corresponds to the reistors color code(Blue, Brown, Black)
J214 was checked for continuity and found to be fine....
