Re: I need for the boardview of the a1398 EMC 2745
Using good ole Cntrl F I was able to locate R5015.
Need to physically locate it on the board but may I ask how to disconnect the keyboard?

Re: I need for the boardview of the a1398 EMC 2745
Hi,
May I thank you for what appears to be an answer to my question.
Downloading and using the openboard view and the brd file in this thread I have finally been able to load the brd without error but have no idea if a search is available for R5015 although I have seen a few "R .... s" in the maize.
On top of that I have no idea how to disconnect the keyboard that is so easy with most laptops.
I wonder if I could call on you for some more instruction.?

Re: I need for the boardview of the a1398 EMC 2745
Hi,
My A1398 EMC2745 was normal yesterday and nobody home today.
Using the keyboard power switch does not even activate the fans.
Is it possible to power it up without using the keyboard power switch?
I have tried to find a service manual without success and not remotely confident that I can interpret the schematic here.
I think the keyboard power switch may be the problem.
Hope you can help.
Regards

Re: ACER P241w 24inch Monitor
I have an ACER 2450 B and there is nobody home.
On examination of one of the PCB's I see that a component has burnt out.(Power reg?)
Typically not enough of the chip is legible. Except for NIK???OS on one line. Then PB or P8... and on bottom line VNB000436.
Would anybody be able to suggest what I could replace it with?
HOPE SPRINGS......

Gigabyte ep45-ud3l capacitor
Hi,
There is a capacitor that has been damaged on this motherboard that I want to replace. The board works without it but for how long or what else could suffer.
There is a value of LF100 C893 on it and there are several the same on the board. I have been unable to find anything through normal channels but will try my luck with Gigabyte who have been helpful in the past with a different problem I had. In the meantime though I wonder if anybody could shed any light.
Thank you,...

Re: LiteOn PA-6601-1A (600w) blows its TOP
Hi,
I tried to start a new thread clicking on "New Posts" but nothing happened. Is there a different avenue I should be pursuing as you seem to indicate I can start a new thread.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Regards

Re: LiteOn PA-6601-1A (600w) blows its TOP
This is definitely at odds with the original post but I wonder if anybody would be able to interpret anything meaningful to some values on a capacitor on a motherboard:
LF100 C893
In the 2 pics I have uploaded the "pink" insitu capacitor is about twice the size of the "blue" one. I could obtain the former but have struck a brick wall with the latter.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated....

Re: Delta DPS-400GB-1A Troubleshoot (xserve)
The yellow thing I referred to is probably a very small transformer. I removed a 45uf 50v and 22uf 25v cap from the area MCNARYXC referred to and was attempting to remove the small yellow transformer to see if I could see what wires it seems to have issuing from it and I damaged the surface mounted capacitor shown in the pic attached. Should I throw in the towel now? Is there something I can replace the missing cap with or is it STUFFED?...

Re: Delta DPS-400GB-1A Troubleshoot (xserve)
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Where should I resolder?
Would you be able to advise where the crystal you refer to is located? As those 3 wires are not connecting to anything in my makeshift PSU only providing 12V do you think that would account for the lack of display?
Getting an ERROR trying to upload pics....

Re: Delta DPS-400GB-1A Troubleshoot (xserve)
Hi,
I seem to have 2 caps where you succeeded but as you said the white stuff is rather obstinate and have yet to replace it or them. In the meantime though there is a black plastic tube (or wire?) that runs where I have drawn a blue line in the pic attached. Whenever I try to bare it to possibly connect it to the yellow part it keeps breaking away seeming to be brittle plastic tube without any wire in it. The wire running parallel to it is OK but I am confused with the black thing..I have attempted to upload 4 files but...

Re: Delta DPS-400GB-1A Troubleshoot (xserve)
I bought an xserve with a dead PSU thinking I could fix it.
Nothing is obviously burnt, it doesn't blow fuses, it has 0 volts output. The xserve manuals says it should have +12v on standby. According to the manuals there are 2 rails of +12v, and 3 IIC pins. No other voltage outputs.
Hi,
Would you be able to advise what the 3 IIC pins are?
Where or what do they connect to? Using an external atx with all the 12V cables my server will turn on and off with fans behaving normally...

Re: LiteOn PA-6601-1A (600w) blows its TOP
Beg your pardon. Wish I had those links earlier but managed to get the chips I sought but I had read your post out of context and thought you were referring to complete PSU's! Thanks anyway.

Hi,
Looking on Ebay here nothing comes up and even www.ebay.com.tw
reveals nothing. Do you think you would be able to send me a link or do you think they are all long gone?

Re: Sas backplane sp410423/412736 pinout
I found that I had my 5V and 12V connections correct but had not been using the 3.3V.
Without actually connecting it to a SAS-controller-attached system yet I am still getting what I had before though namely all the LED's lighting up and SOLID on power up. This as I say without any data cable connected. This has turned me off from the outset because whilst they normally flash on they should go off (I think until the controller is reading them.). I am wondering whether my experimentation has stuffed this particular backplane (of...

Re: LiteOn PA-6601-1A (600w) blows its TOP
It was a Herculean effort but I removed the psu when I got no life signs. When I discovered the U801 chip had blown its face I was optimistic replacing it and the cap adjacent to it which looked good anyway. Unfortunately there was still nobody home. I shorted out the power good green and common. Since then I have replaced the Q856 and OPTO851 which proved OK but OPTO853 was stuffed. Anyway whilst no fireworks still no signs of life like spinning fans on psu. I have replicated the power to the mobo and it also appears dead as a door nail....

Re: Sas backplane sp410423/412736 pinout
Thanks heaps.
At a glance it looks fantastically informative.
Hope to be able to get back to you with success at my end. The molex plug pics alone are awesome.

Re: LiteOn PA-6601-1A (600w) blows its TOP
Sorry I thought I was addressing and asking you. Thanks. Even though I am damn sure the power amp switch is NOT PLUG N PLAY I am none the wiser with the PNP meaning yet. Must confess also that sometimes data sheets are not things I can readily understand. One wonders how I have not zapped myself already but exercise the greatest care I can.
If I can just work out how and where to use the MMBT2907A - Q856 tiny tiny chip that I have I will get my show on the road hopefully to a working PSU. One thing though I did using...

Re: LiteOn PA-6601-1A (600w) blows its TOP
Not sure where I gleaned it but someone had referred to the MMBT2907A or Q856 as bc557. The bc557 looks like a much easier chip to work with. Is that familiar to you?
