  • Samsung LE19R17W Flickers

This 19" TV & more usefully a analogue & Digital Monitor, had a flicker on the picture, in all modes. Fixed by replacing all 4 CAPXCON 1000uf, 25v caps in the PSU. They were not bulging BTW.
Note, the TV is Analogue only, no Digital tuner, no HDMI socket, either.
Found in a Charity shop for £6.

Thanks for all the info, I have a similar UK LE32-B550S5W, board no: BN44-00261B
There is no backlight, apart from a brief flash. In this case one of the Transformers (T1801) is obviously burnt. Are replacements for the Transformer, available?

  • Humax PVR-9150 & 9300

As they age, these boxes are showing various fault symptoms - provided you can work safely & solder correctly, these are easily fixable.
On the power supply board, there are 3 electrolytic notorious "Capxon" capacitors that fail with time. Bit surprised Humax used these rubbish caps!
    C21 1000uf 25v
    C12 & 14, both 2200uf 16v or 25v
These are cheaply obtainable from Ebay, normally the 105deg temp rating type will be supplied. Try to keep the one nearest the heat-sink, as far away from it as possible.
The PSU, which is probably used in other...

  • Packard Bell/Dixons MW19h-AAAd intermittant start

Found one of these at a car boot - used to be OK, but it started playing up recently - either going blank or turn off turn on again to get it working "Out of range" it was saying & a look round on the net, found others with the same problem with these but no solution - so, as its a gloomy day, I decided to rip it apart - not easy as some screws are hidden - under the base stand the two little covers slide left & right, then you have 6 screws to remove - done that? then after removal of the base, 2 more hidden screws to remove!
They really don't want these repaired - do...

    Here is the user guide
This may have been a one off, but the main electrolytic is C05 - I suspect this was really the only fault, as all the rest of the Caps looked OK.
A lot of these boxes, have been sold By Tesco & Sainsburys though - they are normally pretty reliable - if a bit insensitive....

    Ok it is now fixed.
There are 2no 1000uf 25v I replaced, 3no 470uf 25v also replaced + the main smoothing 33uf 450v - which left it's Neg connection behind when de-soldered - I suspect it had gone OC there, & that was the main fault.

I hope this helps anyone else with the odd obscure fault on this nice Freeview recorder. They are nice & quiet, with a laptop HDD 320,500 or upgradable to at least 750gb.

I've been asked to look at one of these - sits there with a green flashing LED, any remote commands, result in 777 on the TV screen. No obvious Caps bulging - the PSU caps are marked XU in the main, several other makes of cap on the main board. PSU is marked juw7.820.00052157.

Any one come across this one??
    Thanks

  • Re: Technika LCD 19 DVDID-208 (Vestel)

All capacitors on the PSU board & the 470uf & 1000uf ones on the tuner board have been replaced, still no Text - aerial fine on other TVs - all modes.
The signal strength shows zero, so perhaps the problem is a faulty tuner - perhaps suffered a nearby lightening strike?
Anyway, I think that is about it for the learning exercise on this dodgy Technika!
    Thanks though for your replys.

Yes, brand new batteries & I have two remotes all other functions more or less work - but STJ may have the answer - the logic board, I'll try that & let you know the result....

Did you ever resolve the Text fault? or can anyone else assist? - as I have the same model set, with no text & slow response to remote commands.
I contacted UMC's help dept - it closely resembles a Choc teapot!
Is there a hidden code to access it's country setting? UMC said it was "Menu 1147" but that does not work! I was wondering if that is the cause of no Text?...

  • Re: Dell E172fpb

    Hi folks
I'm new to this forum - but not to monitor faults!
I have had this problem in the past, with other monitors with a backlight...it seems that the cold cathode backlight tube dies & cannot conduct...thus allowing the voltages at the transformer driver transisters to rise above their working voltages due to no load & fail......
Is it possible to replace the cold-cathode tubes in these particular screens?, if not I suspect it is all a waste of time. A new screen will cost more than the monitor & you still have to change the...
