  • Re: No Picture at all with Vizio M470VSE

The Vizio Logo on the bottom of the TV frame lights up.
I see nothing from the LED strips. I have the back off and have confirmed from both the front and the back that I am getting no light.

I am guessing that you are talking about the two red wires going out to the LED strips?
These go up to 40volts when the TV is powered on...and hold there.

Actually....digging further, after I posted the question.... I found an old post.

The OP was having a slightly different issue ....but...

  • No Picture at all with Vizio M470VSE

    Hi all
I have been doing a ton of reading but I am still very new at troubleshooting this TV.
    I have a Vizio M470VSE.
When I try to power it on, the Vizio Logo lights up. But that is all.
I am not seeing any backlights and if there is any picture there at all, I am not finding it with the flashlight.
It was on HDMI so I cannot tell if there is any sound..but I hear nothing.

I have tested the voltage on the Power Supply board.
I am getting 3.3v on standby and 12.5v when I power on. This seems to match the print on the board. It also seems...

  • Re: Suspect Denon Power supply issue

The display never lights up. Even if there were an error code readout, there is no way to see it.

Khron666...yes I do have a multimeter. I have a Fluke 87v. Yes,I know it is overkill and I will likely never fully grow into it....LOL It is a little hard to explain but although I have never done much of this, it is in my blood. I strongly suspect that I will be troubleshooting electrical equipment for a long time and wanted a solid machine. I will have to get back to you on the voltages. The relay does click at startup. But it then the on/standby starts to flash and there is never a display.

Thank you so much for this. I have checked all the fuses. They seem to be fine. I have a feeling that this is going to be a long term project. I am learning as much about how test as any actual troubleshooting here. But that is why I got this receiver.

  • Suspect Denon Power supply issue

I am very new to the world of troubleshooting electronics...so please be patient with me. I got my hands on a Denon 3802. It appears to be in protection mode. The unit is getting power and has the red standby light. When you try to turn it on however, the display does not light up and the red on/standby light just starts to flash. I have read that Denon installed 4 surge protecting resistors in the power supply that are known to fail. So far so good.. Here is where I am running into a problem and am probably showing my newness. I have no idea where the 4 resisters are...or where to find the...

  • Re: Capacitor series confuses me

This is a lot to wrap my head around. But I think I am starting to get it. I am going to go over your post a couple more times to get it locked in. Thanks so much for this. It really helped.

  • Capacitor series confuses me

I am probably missing something but I am really not getting this "Series" thing.
I have looked ..for a while but not finding anything answering my question.

I have read enough to know that some series can be substituted for others ...but I am not really getting why.
It looks like the series is maker specific.

I get that I have to replace a capacitor with the same uf...the same or larger Volts, size permitting ......and the same or better temp.
But I am at a loss as to how the series really fits into this.

    Is it just a...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

New member here. Ran across this site when I was doing some research. I am actually a Network Engineer by profession but I have been breaking open my toys since I was a young kid to see how they worked. Stumbled across a nice HDTV with a bad capacitor issue and a fever has kicked in for me to learn more about electronics and how to troubleshoot them. I figure if I only open already broken devices, I can not get into too much trouble.
