Just put in new cap for C857 and it turned on fine. Didn't have cable hooked it was just saying no signal and the turned itself off after 10 min or so. Hope that was normal when there is no signal
Got it hooked up now and picture looks great. Hope it stays on. Been 15 or 20 min so far.
Thanks for all the info. Made it real easy. Cap was a $1.99 and girfriend bought me the soldering iron for valentines day :-]

Just got one of these proscan 55s that was headed for the dumpster. It turns on then screen flashes and then turns off. Did some troubleshooting on Internet and found this thread. I don't have any real electronics background, but all caps appear ok on Power supply board. The blue C587 looks like it may have some discoloration at one end, but don't see any splitting. I ordered the recomended replacement from the link above. I Hope it works! This will be a great deal for $1.99 plus shipping :-]
