Re: Dell E171FP No power
I don't know if you ever got your E171FP power board to work, but I have fixed twenty to thirty of these power supplies. The problem is always the 50 volt caps I have circled in red....

Re: Dell GX270 with bad batch of Rubycons or bad board design?
We have had 75 to 100 GX270 MBs replaced because of the failing capacitors. We are now starting to find replacement motherboards with the Rubycon 6.3v 1800uf MCZs blown. We also have found a few Nichion 1500uf 6.3v HN(M)s blown on these same motherboards. Since the Dell warranty has expired as of 1/31, I have been recapping the failed motherboards. I am starting to wonder if the cooling of the Dell cases are leading to failure of the 105c rated caps.

Dell E172fpb
I have a Dell E172fpb 17" lcd manufactured by BenQ. It will not power on, the power button justs blinks green and the screen flashes. I have taken the panel apart and examined the power inverter board. There are no bulging capacitors, but it is full of Lelon caps. I have seen on this forum that this brand is considered one of the least desireable. Anyone have any experience with this LCD panel or problem? I have done several other capacitor repairs, but always the sure tail sign(bulging).Last edited by syclonejim; 01-17-2006, 07:37 PM.
