Re: Vizio Plasma JV50Phdtv10a no picture/no sound
Hi Tom,
I'm not sure where you want the voltage measured at, but I did measure it on the power board connector just above where the other voltages were taken. I attached a picture of the connector/location measurements taken.
With the tv on, and meter set on 500dcv the readings are:
Vs is 189dcv and steady (this is on all three terminals)
Va is 60dcv and steady (on both terminals)
Hope that helps. Thanks....

Re: Vizio Plasma JV50Phdtv10a no picture/no sound
Thanks Tom for the direction. Apologize for the mistake.
Retaking the measurement readings are:
AC-D is 4.60vdc
RL-DN is 4.80vdc
5Vsb is 4.95vdc
DET is 0vdc
V5-ON is 4.79vdc
5V-D is 0vdc
All readings taken with tv turned on. Input from cable tv not plugged in at this time.
Let me know what you'd like for me check next. Thanks.

Re: Vizio Plasma JV50Phdtv10a no picture/no sound
I changed out the 9v battery in my meter. It was down to 8.7v. Put in a new 9v and rechecked the voltages.
The two that changed are:
5Vsb had measured 10.2vac and is now 10.3vac
V5-D had measured 9.9vac and is now 10 vac
All the others are measuring the same as before. The readings were taken with the set on.
I posted pictures in the original request here and thought I had them focused pretty good, but do realize that they are not as close up as possibly needed? Not...

Re: Vizio Plasma JV50Phdtv10a no picture/no sound
Hi Tom. I was able to get the voltage test you were talking about. I also measured the rest of the pin set on that connector as well. The results are:
AC-D is 9.5v
RL-DN is 10.0v
5Vsb is 10.2v
DET is -00.0
V5-ON is 9.9v
5V-D is 0.0v
GND is 0
Hope these make sense to you. Let me know what you would like for me to check next. I appreciate very much all your help.
Thanks, Ken

Re: Vizio Plasma JV50Phdtv10a no picture/no sound
Hi Tom. I didn't see that you posted this morning in between my picture. Sorry.
On the board your talking about I see the connector (I believe) and it has AC-D on one of the pins and DET on another.
attached is the connector.
Let me know what else you need.
Thanks, Ken...

Re: Vizio Plasma JV50Phdtv10a no picture/no sound
Hi Tom,
Sorry about the no paragraphs. Did a copy and paste and it got messed up. I'm attaching photos of the boards so hope that it helps.
With the main board there was one part that wasn't included on the recertified one, it plugged in to the top left of the board and had a wire running down to a bulb type of item below. (its not really named anywhere that I can find).
As for the digital multimeter, I have one but it's not the greatest. If needed I'll have to buy one. Let me know. Thanks,...

Vizio Plasma JV50Phdtv10a no picture/no sound
Sorry I think I posted my question in the wrong spot the other day. This is what I had posted: Hi Tom. Your guide on the troubleshooting of plasma tv's is great. I've learned alot so far but have a great deal more to learn before I'm really up to troubleshooting. At this point I'm probably doing something wrong with the guide. I'm new to this and don't have a great deal of experience troubleshooting boards. I'm more into mechanical. I have a vizio plasma JV50P HDTD10A serial PHLANAH1801xxx The original problem from reading was the sound would go on and then off with a loud noise. Then off and...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi my name is Ken from the Phoenix, Arizona area. I am new to this forum or any forum for that matter. I came across it during trying to trouble shoot my Vizio Plasma TV model JV50PHDTV10A and became very interested in the conversations and troubleshooting. I am a project maintenance mechanic so deal mostly with mechanical aspects of things but do some basic electrical and troubleshooting but by no means down to the board level other than looking at them for burn marks and such. I do like to learn and believe in finding/repairing...
