Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Magnificent! Success! I had a blast doing this. I need to snap a pic of my Samsung to confirm it's a mainboard issue and it'll be done too (I've got another post going.)
Then I'm off to tackle my Westinghouse that's been without HDMI for months. No longer afraid of tackling this sort of thing.
Thanks again to everyone who helped. Off to watch a movie...
EDIT: In case someone finds this post down the road, this TV does not have a pilot light. It's off when off and green when on.Re:...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
I didn't think it mattered, but I figured it was worth a shot to ask. I wasn't concerned about getting the connector into the socket incorrectly. There's two connectors and two sockets. Was curious if there's like Socket A and Connector A vs. Socket B and Connector B. Didn't want to melt down something if I A->B'd something....

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
There's two connectors labeled High Voltage on the output of the board. They are seemingly identical. I assume they're for the CCFL back lights. Does it matter which connector goes in which socket? I took a picture of it before I disconnected it, but the markings are in such a way they're not visible unless they're unplugged. Totally may fault. If they do matter, I can take the rest of the back of the set off and see if I can figure out which one is which....

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
So plug it into the wall and hit the power button? I do not get standby light even without the bulb. Guess I should have mentioned that.
Should I plug everything back into the supply board or only certain things? Like maybe not the HV stuff?
Just being cautious because I had a similar situation (before I knew about the lightbulb trick) with a TV that I repaired the power board, did not have a pilot light, and when I hit the power button a lightning bolt shot out of some surface mount components rendering...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Alright, built the rig, tested with a 40W bulb (that's what I had around the house) ... I was also able to get my hands on a 100W bulb for future needs. Enclosed picture of load-rig just for fun. Never mind the cracked bulb base, came that way out of the box, planning on exchanging next time I venture out of the house. Will open package and check this time. Argh.
The bulb flashed quickly and went out (40W) but no standby/pilot light. I did check for power between the 5VSTB and GND pin on the power board and I do...

Re: Samsung LN55C630 - HDMIs do not work
Tried factory reset already, no go.
I'll give this a go. Hopefully tonight I'll have time to fool with it. Any better to use USB for firmware update vs. just connecting it to a network and checking for updates?
I've had this happen many times as an IT tech. Seems totally feasible. I also have a Westinghouse on my wall in my office that has dead HDMIs, but everything else works. Happened right after a power surge/outage. Not sure how effective coaxial surge protectors...

Will do tonight. Left my phone at home that had the pictures I took in it. Thank you....

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
If there's one thing I've learned, I don't fit in "most cases" statements. I'll pickup a socket and bulb this week and give it a go. Might as well add this tool to the arsenal since I seem to be tinkering with more TVs/Monitors these days. Just to clarify I'd wire the bulb in place of the fuse (removing the fuse) and looking for flash or steady on? And we are talking about the T6.3AH/250V fuse that does read line voltage (120VAC) when the TV is plugged in?
Thanks!...

Samsung LN55C630 - HDMIs do not work
So far this forum has been super helpful, thanks to everyone that pitches in for that. I've been working on a Sayno power supply that I've gotten a ton of help with on here.
I was given an LN55C630K1FXZA that wouldn't power up. Was at a home that suffered a bad nearby lightning strike and subsequent power surge. There was a dead fuse on the TV and when that was replaced it came back on no problem. It was then suffering a strobe light flickering issue when it warmed up, but thanks to this forum I found that it's a common issue that just needs a jumper cut for it to go away, and...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
What if I don't have such light bulb available? I guess I can go buy a light bulb and a socket if there's no alternative. Fuse is soldered on so not sure how to attach bulb to board after it's removed, could solder bulb socket leads to board?...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
I deal with this sort of thing all the time. It's sad. There's tons of equipment in all sorts of state, federal, school system owned organizations that just rots because some lawyer could take them to the cleaners if someone uses the equipment and gets injured through their own negligence or stupidity....

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Bad news guys, I haven't made any sort of revolutionary discovery. Definitely 0.22V and OL. I saw a O and the VDC in the corner lit, so I went with it. Was trying to get out of the office at the end of the day, seems to effect accuracy around here.I'll just change my nickname to "zero-volt drop" since I doubt I'll ever live that down.
Will order the IC today and replace and then go from there.
Sorry, Fluke 189 doesn't...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Oh, wow, I didn't even catch that. My personal sanity is now in question and I can hear my high school electronics teacher scolding at me for not paying attention.I was rushing to get out of the office, at the time I was sure it didn't read OL, but now I'm questioning it. When in diode test on the Fluke 189 I know it'll show OL, but I tried it twice and it just read 0 VDC? (I think.) I'll check it again using diode check and resistance when I get to the office tomorrow. Would make sense to...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Yes, still 300 Ohm between Pin 1 and any of the source pins (5, 6, 7, 8). I'll order another one for starters.
Definitely 0 VDC and not OL. With you being the 2nd recommendation of replacing that IC I'll try to locate and order one tomorrow. I'm guessing this was the result of a power surge. There are 3 TVs that I'm working on from the same location as a result of a surge. One was simply a blown fuse and is back in service, the second needed 2 capacitors replaced to bring it back...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Just got the IC off the board, despite my desoldering pump committing suicide midway through the procedure (The plunger flew out of the end and landed somewhere in the shop. I didn't even look for it, I ordered a new one.), and pin 1 EN/UV to any of the four S (Source) pins (5,6,7,8) still read ~330 Ohm. (329.95-300.01). I doubled checked to make sure I'm getting Pin 1 right, and confirmed it as it has the tell-tale dot on the IC itself, as well as the pin configuration (3 on one side, 4 on the other)....

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Tomorrow I will remove IC and re-test EN/UV to 4 Source pins.
I also received a reply in e-mail from the forum that didn't show up in the post...
Should this be attempted before removing the IC or was it removed from the post purposely?...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Resistance readings are as follows. As I'm not 100% sure which one is the "ground pin" I took some various readings.

All source pins (5-8) between other source pins are 0.12 Ohm.
Drain (pin 4) to every other pin starts out at about 2.5XX MOhm and trickles down, it hit 2.0XX MOhm and kept going. The value seems to pick up where it left off when I switch from pin to pin when testing drain to anything else.
EN/UV (pin 1) to any source (5-8) is 329.87 (330?) Ohm.
EN/UV to BP/M (pin 2)...

Re: Sanyo DP46849 46" LCD - Does not power up.
Hrm, okay. We're venturing into territory where my electronics becomes a little fuzzy.
Does it matter which 400V capacity I use the negative leg on?
Which pin is the ground pin? There's 1 drain pin and 4 source pins that appear to be connected to the same thing. Would the drain pin be the ground pin?
edit: scratch this below, I didn't even see the sheet you attached! Sorry!
