The projector was working fine and suddenly the next day would not work. The power light and lamp light blink green and the projectors sounds like it's starting up but then goes into standby mode. The lights blink many times, and eventually both will turn red.
I have two projectors and switched the bulbs around and get the same problem. (The donor projector works fine with the other bulb, so I believe that would rule out the lamp?).
Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: LG 50py2dr Troubleshooting help
I am hopefully going to get the remote and some time to look at this again. If main board doesn't respond to the buttons or remote, what is might next step?
Also, is there something missing in the red box? Can't find another photo of the set. Seems odd that there are screw holes, but didn't see any connectors that would go to another board.
Thanks again!...

Re: PowerSpec 30" LCD TV (v30dmbt)
I tried an s-cable and got the same results. I don't have a tv tuner with the television, so I was wondering if that was part of the problem, too.
With the s-cable or a/v cable I could watch my dvd for a while, and then it would go to black.

Re: PowerSpec 30" LCD TV (v30dmbt)
TV will work for a bit then suddenly goes to black. The audio is still playing and the led stays green on the front. There appears to be no backlight as there isn't any glow on the screen.
What would be the next step in troubleshooting this tv?
Thanks again!

Re: PowerSpec 30" LCD TV (v30dmbt)
How do you tell if the backlight is on? Would it glow? I would assume the back light is not on, because there is no glow, however the sound is good. I can still hear the movie playing. The TV will go black instantly.
I turned it off for a bit, and after about 5 minutes starting doing the same thing.

PowerSpec 30" LCD TV (v30dmbt)
I got this TV, and replaced a few parts in the power supply, and now TV powers up. However, after so many seconds the TV will go black. I can hear the sound and it I switch source I can see the screen, but will go back to black in AV setting. The time will vary before it goes dark. Sometimes it was a couple of minutes other times a couple seconds.
The TV is missing the TV tuner. Would this cause this problem, or what else should I check.
Thanks!

Here are a couple more photos of the power supply without the shield....

Re: Dead PWB-0656-03 Power Supply
Just wanted to follow up with this now that the fuse came in. I added the mica insulator and fuse, (and re-soldered two bad solder joints) and the power supply is now working again. I plugged it in for about 10 minutes before bed and no problems. Will have to burn it in and see if anything else goes wrong.

I don't have the remote for it, but will check the other buttons when I get home this evening.

Re: LG 50py2dr Troubleshooting help
At this point, what would you recommend? Just replacing the main board or is it possible to troubleshoot it?
Thanks for all the help.

Re: LG 50py2dr Troubleshooting help
I hear one click and the VS_ON is virtually zero. It something like 5 mV and changes to 9mV. When I turn the TV off, it makes the same one click sound.

Re: LG 50py2dr Troubleshooting help
My guess is that is the same as AC_ON? If so, it was 4.29 Vdc.

Re: LG 50py2dr Troubleshooting help
Thanks again. I measured VS_ON and it's zero volts.

Re: LG 50py2dr Troubleshooting help
Thank you for your help. Definitely appreciate it.
You were correct on the Vs/Va. There is no continuity between the two. Hate to ask, but how do I see it its sending a power signal? Just not sure on all the abbreviation and such.

Re: LG 50py2dr Troubleshooting help
Tested voltages then disconnected the y and z sus and getting zero volts on Va and Vs on all readings. Tested continuity between ground and Va and Vs and it buzzed.
Does that indicated the power supply is not working and there is a short somewhere?
The fused tested good and just visual looked over the caps, which also looked good. I haven't pulled the board out yet to test ESR or other components.

LG 50py2dr Troubleshooting help
I got a LG 50py2dr and just started to look at it. I took my chance and got it off of CL with some other tvs. I am fairly good with electronics and soldering, but really haven't done much with tvs.
When I plugged the tv in, the orange light blinks 15 times then goes to a solid orange. LED 170, 901 and 302 all turn on immediately. I noticed the LED 301 doesn't turn on. There is no picture on the screen. Previous owner also included an extra y-sus board that he said didn't change anything. He said he couldn't remember what was wrong with the tv, but said the board made no change....Last edited by troxel; 02-03-2013, 04:11 PM.

Re: Dead PWB-0656-03 Power Supply
I removed the FETs and tested fine, however noticed one didn't have a mica insulator and drain was shorted to ground. Went through all diodes, FETs, and caps, and all appear fine. Going to order the fuse and will report what happens after that.

Dead PWB-0656-03 Power Supply
I am working on a PowerSpec v30dmbt, that has a dead power supply. Googling this model # found some other post that has problems with this unit, but no solutions. Looking at the board Q1 and Q20 have been replaced by previous owner who couldn't get it to work. I checked the fuse right away, and it's open. I need to order some more before I can test further.
I was wondering if there were common problems with this power supply and anything else I need to check or include in my order.
The power supply also has a p/n 6693006610 and the schematics were under HOAU242...

Re: Need photos for Akai PDP4216M
Thanks for the help. I forgot to mention that I downloaded the service manual, and was using that as a guide. The problem that I am running into is I have 3 main (video)&tuner/audio boards, and each one has a different connector/housing on the pcb. I have a few empty connectors and don't know if that is by design or not.
I did find a spliced connector (photo 4) and not sure where that should go. The other end goes to the two connectors in (photo 5).
I have attached some photos and wondering if anyone can help...

Need photos for Akai PDP4216M
Got an Akai televsion that was taken apart and given to me. I am trying to reassemble the unit, but wondering if anyone has some photos of the inside particularly the connectors coming off the power unit. This was in a lot of 5 tvs, and trying to sort out where all the pieces and connectors go.
Thanks!
