I tried flashing all three, none seem to work. I assume this implies a hardware problem?

How likely is it that a 3.3v-modded ch341a burned something out?

Is there anything else worth trying?...

  • HP Omen 16-wdxxxx Bricked After Successful(?) BIOS Flash

I wanted to remove the BIOS password on my Omen 16, so I used a ch314a to flash a modified BIOS file. Based on readings, the chip seems to have been programmed correctly, however the computer won't POST or boot—no fan, and either the power button blinks 1 long 1 short, or the capslock blinks once before shutting off.

There shouldn't be any shorts or physical damage from what I can tell

This Omen probably has HP SureStart Gen4, a firmware-level security feature embedded in the BIOS, however I've been told that "just by flashing to the dedicated flash there should...

I'm not very experienced so I want to avoid desoldering if possible, especially since it seems that the chip is being flashed correctly? What can I try now?...

I verified a few times, but it just says "verifying memory... done"

Do you mean I should check if the file has been flashed correctly? After flashing, I read the chip twice and saved the dumps, they both had CRC32 = 0x8A75749F

I used HexCmp to compare them and the flashed file, all three were identical. So it seems that the chip is successfully programmed, however, the computer will not boot. The computer powers off after capslock light flashes once

Thanks, I tried the new bios but no luck. What should I check for?

My chip is winbond 25R128JVSN 2335

I'm using AsProgrammer, it detects the chip as W25Q128BV and W25Q128FV, I've also read that W25Q128JV would work. No success with these

When I try to boot, there's no fan, the power button light turns on, the capslock button blinks once then shuts off—haven't been able to find if this is an error code

Another pattern is the power button has 1 long blink 1 short blink, which might indicate corrupt BIOS from what I've seen online

flashing that bios resulting in computer not booting up. light turns on for about 2s, sometimes with capslock light, then shuts off. tried erasing and flashing again, no difference

tried flashing my original dump, now that doesn't work either. HELP!

i'm using a ch341a, the jumper is placed right, the adapter is oriented correctly, the red wire is aligned with pin 1. i don't see any physical damage to the chip
