    Re: Acer V223w

OP here. I gave up on mine. I replaced the caps and it worked great for about a week. Then it went back to the original problem. Anyone want parts from it?

    Re: Acer V223w

Well, I guess I reported back too soon. It was working great for a few days. Now it's dead again. It will display the Acer logo, then the power LED goes out and there is no display. If I unplug the power cord and immediately plug it back in, the power LED will flicker on for a brief moment. If I leave the power cord unplugged for a long time, when I plug it back in, the monitor will power on just long enough to display the Acer logo and then go out again. Any other suggestions as to what to do next? I do have a Fluke 179 multimeter that I can use to test parts with....

    Re: Acer V223w

Thanks for helping a girl out. I finally got the replacement caps from mouser and installed them today. The monitor has been working great ever since.

I may have to take apart my Acer AL2016W soon. It has been making an annoying high pitched noise. I was able to make it go away by turning down the brightness.

The 1041 and 1044 caps are HERMEI. All the other caps are Elite, except for the 22uf next to the big cap - it looks to be KY.

    Re: Acer V223w

Sorry I didn't give enough detail. The monitor was purchased as a refurb - as-is, no warranty. It worked fine for the first few months. It's no warmer than the other monitor that it is sitting next to. When it is working, it stays on for anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. The longer the power is disconnected, the longer it will work when it is plugged back in.
Any suggestions as to which specific caps to replace? It may be a few days before I can try the hair dryer trick on it.

    started a topic Acer V223w

    Acer V223w

I have an Acer V223w that just started acting strangely. It works fine for a while, then just shuts off. No display, no power light, but the PC still detects it as connected. If I disconnect the power cable for 5 minutes or so, then plug it back in, it will work just fine for a while, then it shuts off again. I was really hoping to find an obviously bad cap when I opened it up, but no such luck. Attached are pictures of the boards....

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Just discovered this forum trying to troubleshoot my monitor. I studied electronics in the 80's, but ended up going into the IT field instead. I still like to tinker with stuff occasionally.
