Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
Hey,
i need help please.
i want to order a new power supply for this monitor.
My board model is PWI2004SP(J).
The board i can find availible is PWI2004SP(G).
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Board-PWI2004SP-G-SAMSUNG-2053BW-Mckinley-20-1-/170678718529?pt=US_Laptop_Screens_LCD_Panels&hash=item27bd3e9041
are the compatible? can i buy PWI2004SP(G) and it will work?
they look identical.
Thanks in advance.Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flicke...

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
Hi (again)
I have replaced almost all the caps on the PS and things are much much better now, BUT still i have seen it restart at least once, though it is much more stable now.
The capacitors that i haven't changed are the little ones 10uf 50v cap and the one above.
just wanted to ask, can those little guys cause big trouble? what are their role?
Thanks !!...Last edited by carbonfiber; 01-06-2013, 05:11 PM.

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
Hi,
the video source is good. i am using DVI port. earlier i tried VGA also - same same.
unfortunately i cannot continue today.
tomorrow I think i will try replacing other caps i didn't have replacements for.
selldoor, thank you very much so far, i will be back to report!

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
hey thanks for the guidance!
i think i will give it a rest as well..
meanwhile i tried connecting a very similar TCON from another samsung. all the pins are match by the label. plugged it in and it was even worse - a very quick flash on start up and darkness afterwards
though with this TCON the BL_ON signal stayed 2.7v all the time and still no back light.

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
I just want to be sure about the direction of this signal.
Can you tell for sure that this signal is originated by TCON and going into the PSU?
some more findings:
i have found the two diodes and the regulator (all circled) to become quite warm though the output of the regulator is ~1.8v and looks stable....

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
hey,
i did the resistance measuring on the transistors and the all have kilo/Mega ohms resistances, so i beleive they are fine. i also checked them with DMM using diode mode.
some new info: the signal that is marked on the pic (on the TCON it's printed BL-EN and on the PS the same pin is labeled ON/OFF).
i noticed that when light goes out this signal drops from 2.7v to 0v.
so apparently the PS is getting a command to turn backlight off ?!
maybe the problem is in the TCON?
i am thinking maybe to cut...

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
i see, just punctuation misunderstanding
i am posting a picture of the whole set.
if you mean the LVDS cable then it's attached directly without additional boards....

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
hey,
i got an autoranging DMM.
i got the board disconnected. (not sure what you mean by "Power OFF board doesnt need to be connected")
resistance between S1-S2 = 1.164 kohm
resistance between S3-S4 = 1.182 kohm

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
here are TCON pics,
about the caps - most Rubycon (yes, from eBay -fake? ) and some unbranded.
even if the caps are not top quality - can it cause failure even when they are new?
just did a test - connected the panel to a known working PSU - worked good. so the culprit lies in some bad PSU component. how can i test the inverter transformer? and what does the high pitched noise from MSPS transformer indicate?
many thanks for helping...

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
Hello,
this board has been worked on caps by me but with no luck.
selldoor, just tried to hook up another panel - the same symptoms appear and even worse (backlight just stays off + high pitched noise). so i suppose it's not bad lamps. i am thinking that some component is not supplying enough power, just don't know which.
any ideas?

Re: Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
Hello Rtech and thanks for replying!
well.. BIG cap: when just plugged in without main, it fluctuates a bit between 310-313 vdc.
when monitor works 305 v, when flicker occurs - ~ 310 v.
5v is rock steady at 5.2v under all circumstances. while it shuts down momentarily i hear a clear sequel from SMPS transformer (i think) also it gets a little warm, don't know if thats OK.

Samsung Syncmaster 220T - flickers.
Hello all,
got this monitor to fix.
The symptom- when turned on, works for a minute or so but then starts to flicker slowly. sometimes the backlight just turns off momentarily and back on, but sometimes it's off for longer - and in that case the monitor just turns off and back on after couple of seconds (the whole monitor restarts) and i hear some sqeal for SMPS tranformer area.
I got 5v steady. But as for the 15v line which i suspect - with main board disconnected it measures ~17.5-18v. when monitor is working fine - this line is 14.5v (good) but while the monitor restarts...

Re: Toshiba 37AV600T - not powering on
Thanks for the advice! unfortunately i don't have that one too..
i will try to remove the IC as soon as i can and report back!

Re: Toshiba 37AV600T - not powering on
welll.. freeze spary - no, carb spray -yes
applied some of it and definetly there is a change in evaporation speed between stdby and trying to power up. so - i am quite sure it heats up.
but i guess i cannot be sure that the culprit is that IC untill i remove it.

can't say definitely.. but i think that it does heat up a little.....

Re: Toshiba 37AV600T - not powering on
hi,
it measures 2.4 ohms between IC #2 outputs and GND. would like to test this IC for shortage.. i guess the only way is to remove itand see if shortage gone?
and Thanks for replying

Re: Toshiba 37AV600T - not powering on
Hello !
been sniffing around some voltage regulators..
the #1 marked in the pic is : BD8629FS
this IC's minimum Vin is 4v but it actualy receivs only ~1.8v and therefore has no output voltage.
the #2 IC is aoz1017:
I have found something strange with aoz1017 AND the BD8629FS - the Output pins seem to be shorted to GND pins on both IC's, though when i try truning TV on - the output voltage of aoz1017 does go to ~1.8V.
also - the diode i marked seems shorted (both ends have continuity...Last edited by carbonfiber; 01-02-2013, 03:05 PM.

Re: Toshiba 37AV600T - not powering on
Hi Tom,
first of all let me say how great it is to have a forum like that where people like you dedicate of their own time trying to help people in troubleshooting, very much appreciated!!
I will try later on to see whats going on with the voltages to/from regulators around that area.. hope i will be back with some new findings

Re: Toshiba 37AV600T - not powering on
the ones i got on the board are Jamicon, any good?
i couldn't find the voltages even when the tv was trying to power up...
